Now here is something we should do now...

    1) Trade Spoon & Lue to Atlanta for a $7.5 million TE

    2) Renounce TE

    3) Sign Stromile Swift to an offer sheet

    then...

    1) Memphis matches and pays more then they wanted to retain him, thus we screw over a divisional team finacially. In that case we sign Gary Trent to come off the bench.

    2) Memphis doesn't match and we get a pretty good, young, freakishly athletic PF.

    3) Memphis decides not to offer but doesn't want to lose him for nothing, thus doing a sign-and-trade for Howard or Taylor.

    Just a thought.

Oh that game 7 is in my head forever...but doesn't really matter...that year we would have destroyed anyone. no matter what team was there in our way we were going to win.

I won't mind seeing that whenever Yao make a block.

    Willis,

What I would have done would have been to keep Pike as insurance and tried to sign Elden Campbell or someone with a bit more flexibility than Deke.

Deke has nothing left, he can clog the middle but the guy reminds me of the last year of Hakeem where he struggled to get to the rim.

For those who brought up Charles Jones, there is a big difference, players who are Role players their entire career can last longer because they are more accepting of whatever role they are put in.

Mark my words, Deke will be whining by December about his lack of playing time, the man is proud, and once was a great player, but great players tend to have a VERY hard time becoming role players.

And that is the main reason I am not thrilled by the trade.

Yeah, but at this point all he's after is a championship, right? That's why he didn't want to play for Chicago. He has to know he's not going to be taking Yao's minutes, or else why would he agree to play for Houston?

Latest Chicago Tribune article on trade

    http://chicagosports.chicagotribune...3bulls,1,739583.story?coll=cs-bulls-headlines

The Bulls and Houston have agreed in principle to a trade that will send Dikembe Mutombo to the Rockets in exchange for Eric Piatkowski, Adrian Griffin and Mike Wilks, according to several league sources.

The trade talks were first reported in the Tribune on Aug. 6, the day the Bulls acquired Mutombo from New York in the Jamal Crawford trade. They moved forward this week when Houston agreed to pay Griffin's salary of $807,546, a league source said. This will allow the Bulls to waive Griffin with no financial commitment.

Piatkowski, a 6-foot-7-inch swingman, has shot 40 percent from three-point range in 10 NBA seasons and will give the Bulls the perimeter shooting presence they have lacked in recent years.

Wilks, a free agent who will sign a three-year contract with one year of guaranteed money, will battle Chris Duhon for the backup point-guard job.

The trade is expected to become official next week, contingent on Mutombo and Piatkowski passing physicals.

Dikembe anchored the defense of the Knicks which was top 10 in terms of limiting the opposing team's field goal percentage. Ward was also part of the defensive mix. Considering the Knicks had Keith Van Horn on the team for a large part of the season, this is quite a feat. Also, Don Chaney is not a defensive-minded coach. With some teams lacking in perimeter shooters like the Blazers and the Clippers, Dikembe and Yao may get paired up in the frontcourt to basically be a giant wall around the basket. Even Team USA would have problems getting to the basket.

I would not be surprised if we pick back up Adrian Griffin once he clears waivers from the Bulls - ala what the Blazers did when we waived Augmon in the quitten trade. We're already paying Griffin according to this Chi Tribune article, we still have 2 spots left on the new 15man roster, and JVG is a big fan of Griffin (as cited by his consulting him before accepting JHoward in the TMac trade).

    Ah Hah!!!

This means that CD/Les purposely decided to keep the TE and aren't just planning on letting it expire. Since the Rox paid AG's salary, there was absolutely no savings between this deal and just sending out Pike and the TE for 'Tumbo. So either we're looking to make a deal with our soon to be expiring TE, or a slightly smaller TE was created during the Tmac deal and will expire next season.

Edit: The "Ah Hah!!!" wasn't big enough.
