High school lockdown lifted after gun scare 01:39 PM CDT on Friday, September 3, 2004 From 11 News Staff Reports LEAGUE CITY -- Four juveniles were taken into custody after a gun scare at Clear Creek High School in League City. League City police took four juveniles into custody. The school was put on lockdown after reports that a student had a gun, according to League City police. Galveston County deputies also responded to the scene in the 2300 block of E. Main. Clear Creek ISD confirmed that four juveniles are being questioning about the matter but they aren't saying whether a gun was found. The lockdown was lifted after the students were arrested. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My stepson goes to school there and my wife did some frantic checking around and ultimately, one of her coworkers, who also has a child attending school there, said that a group of four students had planned on bringing guns into a pep rally and open firing. Unbelievable!!! I'm not sure to the accuracy of this story...but guns in school is ridiculous. I'll definitely be voicing my concerns to the CCISD board!!!
My wife just "retired" after being a teacher for 8 years. Her last job, last year, was at League City Intermediate located right down the street from there...
That was my school. We had a lot of trenchcoat mafia types. We called them tree people because they always hungout under this one tree on campus. High school can be so cruel.
I just got home from picking up my son at Clear Creek. He told all about it. Damn, this hits too close to home.
Creek Class of '03. My sister is a sophomore there and told me all of it when I came down from UT this evening. Wow. Makes me want to spend as much quality time with my family as I can before I have to head back up. And I'm going to try to call every single night like my mom wants me to. And I'm not going to cut my sister off when she's been talking to me on the phone about mundane details regarding school for 45 straight minutes and I need to do my homework. Wow.
Firing guns at pep rallys?...... weak. Those kids have to be mentally challenged. Is it me or are there more and more of these stories? Are kids going crazy more now or are we overreacting?
It appears that this scare doesn't exactly live up to the hype. http://www.galvnews.com/story.lasso?wcd=23660 BB gun causes lockdown By Scott E. Williams and Carolina Amengual The Daily News Published September 04, 2004 LEAGUE CITY — A student brandishing what apparently was a BB gun led to a lockdown at Clear Creek High School on Friday. Officials Friday evening filed misdemeanor charges against League City resident Damon Phillips, 17, of disorderly conduct and disruption of a public school facility, each of which carries a possible fine of up to $500. Student Crime Stoppers received a tip that morning that a male student was showing other students what appeared to be a pistol tucked into his waistband. School officials locked the school down about 11:30 a.m., and kept all students where they were for about two hours. League City police officers soon arrived at the school to help sheriff’s deputies search for the reported student and weapon. Law enforcement officials eventually took three students to League City police headquarters, although two of them were there only to give witness statements, investigators said. No one was injured, and school officials said the lockdown was only a precaution. School Principal Fred Hayes sent students home with a letter that aimed to explain the lockdown to parents. The lockdown overlapped with lunch for many students. Some students were in the school cafeteria when it began, and there they stayed for two hours. Other students, who had not had lunch yet when the lockdown started, got to eat after the lockdown was lifted.
