Knowing what we now know, if we could go back in time and re-do the 2021,2022, & 2023 NBA drafts, who would we draft? Which players were the right picks? Which were the wrong picks, and who would we replace them with?

If we picked Mobley or Barnes instead of Green, would we still trade for the #16 pick and get Sengun?

Would we still sign Fred, Dillion, Jeff Green, Aaron Holiday, Landale?

    2021 draft
    Unavailable: Cade Cunningham

    My Picks:
Scottie Barnes at #2 (knowing Sengun would still be available at #16)
    Alperen Sengun at #16
    Herb Jones at #23
    Quintin Grimes at #24

    2022 draft
    Unavailable: Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren

    My Picks:
    Jalen Williams at #3
Walker Kessler at #17 (considered Tari Eason but backup rim protecting center felt like a more pressing need & we also have Herb and Jeff Green who can fill in as backup SF/PF)

    2023 draft
Unavailable: Victor Wembanyama, Brandon Miller, Scoot Henderson

    My Picks:
Amen Thompson at #4 (considered Jaime Jaquez)
    Cam Whitmore at #20

Still sign Fred, Dillion, Jeff Green, and Aaron Holiday

    Current Team would like like:

    Fred VanVleet/Amen Thompson/Aaron Holiday
    Jalen Williams/Cam Whitmore/Quintin Grimes
    Dillion Brooks/Herb Jones
    Scottie Barnes/Jeff Green
    Alperen Sengun/Walker Kessler

Better record than now? Worse record? What would you do differently?

Would take several days to upload with a file that size. You would not be able to call anyone for that whole time (thanks AOL).

i would still be very tempted to take jabari. As awesome as williams is, the skillset Jabari brings is so rare and so valuable that i would probably lean towards him

Obviously you would draft Jokic instead of Capela in 2014 and him and prime Harden become unstoppable. Then you don't trade for Ty Lawson and instead keep the 2016 pick and take one of Siakam or Dejuounte Murray.

    I would hire a better GM….

who would have hired a better coach.

I would have stayed away from KPJ.

As a result of staying away from KPJ I would have gotten Evan Mobley in for a work out and drafted him, or traded down for Scottie Barnes (who I really liked but didn’t want to take #2).

That’s the important stuff. So much wrong with this org dates back to 2020 and 2021. I can’t hate on Stone for drafting Jalen; I thought he was super talented. But I wasn’t privy to the fact that we didn’t even get Mobley in for a workout. That’s just incompetent.

Trade up for Chet or down for Jalen Williams
    Wagner

    Witus
An owner group surrounding Yao Ming or Olajuwon.

I am honestly not sure how to answer this question. I would say the biggest mistake was trading Allen away for peanuts. But then again, we probably don't draft Sengun if we kept Allen.

So, I'll say the biggest mistake was not taking Scottie Barnes. If you take Mobley, you're tempted not to take Sengun later.

I disagree with the OP regarding Williams over Smith, and I strongly disagree with Kessler over Eason. I think Stone nailed that particular draft.

With respect to the most recent draft, it's simply too early to tell.

“Nailed”? Almost. We threw away a late round pick. We basically didn’t get anything for Christian Wood. But agreed, we did pretty well in 2022. Eason could end up being a top 5 player in that draft. Next to Sharpe and Williams, it’s Tari from that draft in my opinion.

Lol I am not getting the infatuation with Scottie Barnes either, he is a good player but come on......

He looks like an alien with teeth, nose and hair.

Ha, I actually forgot about TyTy. Good call there, though it's not like there was a plethora of talent taken after him.

I was only thinking Kessler due to a need for a back up rim protector. And if we nabbed Herb Jones in 2021 and still have Uncle Jeff, minutes for Tari would be harder to come by. Otherwise I Iike Tari more.

Why Jabari over Williams? Do you think Jabari will be the better player later on in their career? Right now Williams is better.

If know what we know we could have gone for more picks and picked more players.......

    We rig the game.

Williams is the better all round player and much more exciting to watch for me, he is going to be Harden with Defense minus playmaking and foul baiting.

Not that he will score that many points on a stacked team though.

I think Kessler is overrated and I think Smith has a higher ceiling than Williams. Not to mention I think it’s more difficult to find players in the mold of Smith than Williams. Of course, I could be way off. It’s still very early.

True. But just going by the picks that we had, I wanted to see if we could have taken better players and had a better roster in hindsight.

If you can play basketball god and still end up with a mediocre roster like Stone sans FVV and Brooks....

then we already lost....of course you should get much better!!!

But I guess Stone and Ferttita were the problems to begin with, those decisionmakers are not brilliant enough for me.....they make the decisions.

Udoka and Sengün are the ones they nailed .....somehow. Witus is the better man.
