For me it was the 1982(UNC national champs)during the Final Four when they lost vs UNC in the semi-final. It was the first time I saw UH on national tv. My family just moved to Miami a couple of years earlier. I was 12 then, no cable no nothing. All we had was CBS. On that saturday, my older brother and I were watching the game because "Sweet" Rob Williams was playing. He went to Lanier Jr High with my older brother and it was reason why we were watching. This Freshman from Nigeria was being called for goal-tending every time down court. We started laughing at him, but we followed him every year since. Thanks Hakeem, you are my starting center on my all-time NBA team. Thanks for the only two championship t-shirts that I own. ------------------ The Heat Really suck!!
Seeing Dream leave is all I care about right now, not remembering the past.... He's gone by his own will not Houston's... So bye Dream and personally I do wish you well but I hope you don't win another championship........ ------------------
The UNC game!. Dream is laying on the court, with a stunned look on his face. ------------------ Respect Hakeem's legacy. A championship in the hand is worth two in the bush!!
I have a nice set of bookends of memories... Dream burning Ewing, and Dream burning the Rockets. I tried to be above the fray Dream. But... go **** yourself. ------------------ If he dies, he dies: Utah's Andre HarryBinko, after knocking down the Cavaliers Trajan Langdon.
My very first memory of Dream was back in the early 80's at the University of Houston Victoria Campus (UHVC) where Akeem Olajuwon, the school's basketball star made a guest appearence at a UHVC function. I was about 11 years old and I was outside with some other kids when a black UH car drove up and all I remember seeing is this tall Nigerian getting out of the car. I had no idea who this guy was, I was there as a friend of an invited guest. The other kids I was with, were children of professors and faculty and they knew who he was. We followed him into the building where there was a small reception, an announcement was made, hands were shook, pictures were taken, then he went outside, where other functions were going on and proceeded to sign these small red rubber UH toy basketballs. I was one of the first few kids to get one. I had no idea who he was and was just surprised to see such a tall guy. I took the ball home and it lived in my closet for a long, long, long time. A few years ago, I found that red rubber ball. The area where Akeem had signed had turned into a giant blue ink blob... rH
