Getting Murray and Capela from Atlanta would solve both of our current problems - starting SG and a shot blocking and rebounding backup Big. I'd be willing to part with a combination of any player and picks not named: Sengun, Smith, Eason, Whitmore, Brooks and VanVleet and to a lesser extent, Thompson only because it is still to early to tell what we have there yet. The main rotation consisting of the following players would be a great mix of experience and youth to grow with. PG - VanVleet / Thompson SG - Murray / Whitmore SF - Brooks / Eason PF - Smith / ? ..C - Sengun / Capela That's a very solid 9 man rotation that will work on both sides of the court.
Do u think Jalen, Tate and Brooklyn picks get us Murray and Capela? agreed that Murray and Capela solve our two biggest problems. Murray is on a reasonable contract locked up until at least 27’. Capela is expiring at the end of next season, so he’s potentially only a short term rental. I do love the idea of Fred and Murray in the back court with Cam playing some 2/3. That’s solid.
Thought bubble: Hawks get: Jalen Green Kyle Kuzma Jock Landale Wizards get: 2024 BKN 1st AJ Griffin Clint Capela Vic Oladipo Rockets get Dejounte Murray Daniel Gafford Wizards: get a first for Kuzma, Capela is probably an upgrade on Gafford, they can take a look at Griffin. Hawks ditch Capela and get a decent return for Murray in Green and Kuzma. Can try a different direction and attempt to outscore everyone (Pacers style). Rockets upgrade at the 2 and backup 5 spots for the cost of the 2024 1st.
I was just having this discussion earlier and I agree that Jabari is unlikely to ever be as good Lauri. Utah is not going to accept a straight up trade. Also, we need defenders around Sengun so the fit is poor. Not a trade that makes sense.
I think you trade Amen, Landale, Tate, Oladipo, and the 2024 Nets pick for Murray and Capela. It works because: At this point, the Hawks need to tank since this is the last year they have their own pick. Amen, who is super raw, helps their tank. The Hawks also want to get off of Capela's salary. Getting Murray and keeping Jalen allows us to move Jalen to 6th man. For the 2 guard spots, I see Fred and Murray getting about 34 minutes a night each and Jalen getting about 28. If Jalen is hot one night, you keep him out there or maybe go with 3 guards. But if Jalen is cold, you play the vets more - no pressure on him. Mostly importantly, we need a real PG out there when Fred sits. Fred is far and away our plus/minus leader. This team is so young, they really suffer when someone isn't running the show out there.
I think this 3 team combo is interesting but in this layout the Hawks are getting crushed, Wiz getting too much value for Kuzma/Gaff
Sengun / Capela Smith / Green Brooks / Eason Whitmore / Green VanVleet / Brogdon trade bullock/landale for Capela and oladipo/tate for Brogdon. Use picks as needed to satisfy teams
3 Team trade Hawks:Jalen Green, Oladipo, Nets 1st ‘24 Utah: Jabari, Amen, 2 1st Rockets: Markkanen, Murray FVV/Holiday Murray/Whitmore Brooks/Tate Markkanen/Tari Sengun/Green/Landale

Wouldn't there be the option to stagger his minutes with FVV and give him half his time at PG? Most of his 3point shooting is assisted (ie not off the dribble), and he is hitting. 391 this year - which is a major improvement on our current 2. He hasn't exactly struggled offensively in Atlanta, the issue is the defensive fit with 2 smaller guards in the back court. He is the same size as Jalen, and far more keyed in defensively, so one wonders why it would make our overall defence worse.
He’s a good defender as a 1, mediocre as a 2 so there’s no defensive value. FVV is also a small guard so it would be a bad fit. Fvv plays a lot of minutes so staggering isn’t really relevant, plus they would close together
I don't understand your theory. Defensively FVV plays next to Jalen Green. Green is poor defensively. Murray plays next to Trae. Trae is poor defensively. Murray is the same suze as Green. Therefore size defensively is not an issue. Perhaps backcourt partner makes a difference? Perhaps system makes a difference. In a good system, Murray has been great, and would be an upgrade on both ends when compared to Green. Also his contract length gives the option to go a different direction after next year if we want to move on from FVV (ie establish Whitmore as starter?)
We can't just give away JGreen. He is not a bad player, just need coaching. I am not sure the current staff in Rockets are good enough to teach him but there are always other options. As Sengun hired a personal coach at the summertime, JGreen might find someone similar for himself.
