http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/death_in_gaza/index.html I can't remember if there was a thread posted on this awhile back, but has anyone else seen this documentary? Man, I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen. Very powerful and very sad for a variety of reasons.
Yeah, I saw this a month or so ago. It's really good. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but if you don't know anything about it going in, the end is pretty shocking.
I have seen it a couple of times--quite powerful. Those little boys have NO future as it stands now. Gaza, as pictured in the documentary, looks like Beruit must have--hellish. When you see what these people go through on any given day, it's alot harder to say "bomb them into the stone-age". It's telling that one of the chidlren said, when they killed my friend so-and-so, I joined the resistance...
"""""""" spoiler """"""""""" Didn't they say the one kid had quit the group and wanted to become a camerman? I'd love to see a follow-up on him and see if that held true. I doubt it.
You are right, both of them said they wanted to be cameramen. The one child that was leading the militants through the darkended street as a look-out, said he joined after his friend was killed by the Israelis.
This was amazing to watch. I think it's a complicated situation, helps people who like to look at things in black and white see the reality.
