a) D_Pts_per_ScPoss = Opponent_PTS / (Opponent_FGM + (1 - (1 - (Opponent_FTM / Opponent_FTA))^2) * Opponent_FTA*0.4) b) Team_Defensive_Rating = 100 * (Opponent_PTS / Team_Possessions) c) Stop% = (Stops * Opponent_MP) / (Team_Possessions * MP) and individual defensive rating is... DRtg = Team_Defensive_Rating + 0.2 * (100 * D_Pts_per_ScPoss * (1 - Stop%) - Team_Defensive_Rating) So according to this formula he had a better defensive game. Let's just assume that this stat doesn't exist and you just finished watching the game. I want you to tell me who had a better defensive game?
Yea he cooked Jeff and others. Sengun's really an underrated defender this season but i still didn't like his defense tonight. He looked uninterested bit lazy on defensive end. Couldn't grab rebounds either. Feels like he had a 1.5 quarter where he played good defense. That being said he wasn't the reason this game was close it was our perimeter defense and our inability to make threes.
Have to agree, very little cutting and outside of FVV most guys have been missing lately. I’m more disappointed in his rebounding lately.
I am not saying he had a bad defensive game and I didn't watch the game with defense in my mind...gotta watch the game again to answer your question but I would have expected Bari would have had the best defensive rating
Watching the numerous easy assists Jokic gets purely from Aaron Gordon just moving around the baseline off-ball... Stone really should be scouring the entire basketball world to find another person similar to AG to pair with Sengun. Just baby steps. Then he can focus on the perimeter players who are in constant motion like KCP and a lesser extent MPJ.
Aside from the motion our guys also just pass up easy shots for no reason all the time. This isn't specific to Sengun passes but just in general, the two I notice it most with are Jalen and Jabari, they get the ball while standing still at the 3 point line and no defender near them and they just...don't shoot. The defender runs up and closes out and basically the possession gets reset. Just shoot it!
Absolutely agree. I wanted to comment in a previous post when someone asked why Sengun's assists are down - so many times he passes to Jalen who just holds the ball because he doesn't know what he wants to do and dances around the perimeter, and by the time he shoots it's no longer assist territory regardless of making it. (which is really bloody frustrating considering most of the time he does something nice it's when he makes a quick decision) And Jabari loves his pump fake on a catch and what should've been a shoot. Like you said these aren't specific to Sengun passes - I just have an eagle eye for these specifically because of the assist potential fantasy basketball wise for Sengun - but it's something they repeatedly do. I wish if they're both in position to shoot it, catch it and shoot the damn ball. I can't count even count high enough, the times Jalen gets the ball and just waits for the defender to be in better position before he bothers making a move.
Or does some fancy streetball crossovers when there is nobody else within a 10 feet radius. Those mannerisms usually mean he's going to attack the hoop no matter what, and the opponents begin licking their chops.
It was not total dominance, Mirotic was a Euro player to begin with and someone who scored 17 ppg in the NBA as well..... so it was not like he was a regular NBA player either. Bjelica was accomplished Euro Champion before he entered the NBA....... Statistically star players play fewer minutes in the European leagues, it was common that someone averaged 28-29 mpg and still considered a star player and averaged 19 ppg...... It was less about stats in general.
