Yup, a lot of poster missed this. I'm really liking that Jalen is looking for Sengun a lot of times when he is driving into the paint. While, FVV x Sengun PnRs are good we really need to mix in a few wrinkles here and there because our offense becomes predictable and too stagnant at times. I get being disappointed with Jalen's growth this season, but other than shooting he has pretty much improved in all other aspects of his game. He has been way better on defense (he's actually serviceable to good at times) and PnR.
Lineups with Tate last night were such a disaster. A -13 in like 18 minutes played. Just terrible. I'm still smh at that play where FVV had a open 3 and swung it to the corner for Tate. No you don't make an extra swing pass for someone who brick's 3 pters at 30%. I get it, it's an instinct of FVV but I'm pretty sure after he swung it, he knew he made the wrong decision and he was the one who actually was suppose to put it up.
I like Tate more than most as he's fine for back of the rotation even though he's been struggling last 2-3 weeks. That said, putting that loss on Cam is about the most pro-Tate post I've ever seen. Edit: What Yolo said.
Rockets are 3-12 on the road, but we should really dissect Jalen Green and how he is responsible for that too! Time for a whipping boy thread!
He is grabbing more butt clenching rebounds lately. I know cuz my butt was clenching. Lets not throw those away.
I mean, Jalen is polarizing but I feel like our real whipping boy is Jock Landale because I can’t find almost anyone who wants to defend him. I’d feel sorry for him if he wasn’t playing like my ass cheeks
Well since we are in a fast food microwave society, its always game to game ie. what have you done for me lately (day to day) The biggest disappointment would be his shooting since it was his strength coming out of HS I don't think his other parts of his game has his stans upset besides the head scratching turnovers, which is a game to game thing, as he had a couple last night, but four in one of the previous games If he can consistently have a 58-67 TS% everyone is glad, if he shoots like December, then nobody is happy, not even his most loyal waterboys
I do not have a problem with his game in the Chicago loss because the Chicago loss was an anomaly of a game, the Bulls were throwing the game away but the Rockets fell into their trap and then all of a sudden they made shots in the last minutes of Overtime..... But in general I do not like his performance in Away games.....
What's Jabari as a player, it's Udoka as a HC:A second year young prospect to figure out how to handle things more professionally and to learn never give up. As typical Ime would surrender when the score was 85-101, would bench starters and Londale /Holiday/Amen/Tate/Bullock were running around. He didn't. This is the most important lesson learned yesterday. Rockets outscored Bulls 34-13 in a certain period, 21 points swing (85-101 to 119-114). Rockets is a young team and won't outgassed as easy as Bulls-type veteran teams. Wish Ime continues this attitude. In that case the yesterday game is a win for team/coaching culture.
FVV is super inconsistent at 3’s. He was terrible at them last game and he chunks up at least 2 ill-advised 3-pters every game. I still think he was a great addition, but he is hero balling it too much with Brooks out. Jalen was great at 3pters when in the flow of the game. When he forces, he almost always misses. He is improving and baby steps are welcome. I can’t wait until our bench brigade of Amen, Cam, Tari, and Jeff get comfortable together. Amen should only play Pg and set up whoever the outside shooters are. That second unit should run, run and run some more. There is not a unit in the league with that kind of athleticism.
He was 7-14 from 3 against miami, which is the game prior. considering he's a near 40% 3 pt shooter this year on very high volume, i still smh at him passing to a non shooting tate while FVV was open himself
There is nothing to like for most part on his road numbers, other than getting some actual meaningful play as a youngin in close games which is good for learning how to win, rather on home or road Its why those who dislike him know he is also vital to winning because they do have a winning record in games with him as lead scorer, so his inconsistency on hitting shots/efficient scoring is probably the diff of them being at 18 wins instead of 21/22 wins, but even thats nitpicking since its a Team game and not golf/singles tennis But its still better as a team this year for all the youngins than last year team wins total at the same point of season, its like 5 vs. 18 total wins Even with Green navigating thru his rough patch .....most of the games this season have been competitive, and their record reflects that
Landale is more like Nix so not really a scapegoat because he just doesn't have high enough usage and time to be the scapegoat. Green is this year's KPJ.
I told everyone that FVV and Dillon Brooks were happy chuckers but you live with that. They would not have numbers like 19 ppg and 16 ppg with their respective old teams if they were just attempting reasonable attempts.
He's vital to winning only because that's the role he's been put in. He takes the second most shots on the team. So yeah, when he shoots like ass it's going to be hard to win. Same goes for Sengun and FVV. Those three take the most shots and combined they take over 50% of the shots on a nightly basis. Jalen has the worst efficiency of the three and scores slightly the least ppg trailing behind Fred by a smidge. It's not hard to explain...When the worst of your top three scorers has a good night it's going to help a lot. What would really help the team is if he shot a bit less and passed more. Jabari should be more involved in the offensive gampeplan than Jalen at this point.
We really need to stop starting Tate because it constantly puts us in a hole early in the game. Obviously this wouldn't be the case if Dillon wasn't injured, but we really need a good shooter in the starting line-up. Pistons is a good team to experiment against so we should start Cam over Tate tomorrow. Sengun needs shooters around him so he can operate in the paint. No one respects Tate's 3pt shot so they would double Sengun instantly.
Well of course when your starting young core plays well it helps, Rockets are like 6-3 when Green is leading scorer, so its his inconsistency that is magnified which is hit shotmaking I think his shots per game are fine because its games where he took 7 shots in a half or those games where he only get a couple buckets it is only around 10-12 shots that game Fred should be the one running the two man game with Bari more to get him more shots, but I have no prob with Green cutting his shots down if he isn't on that game I said it in the past that Bari/Sengun/Green should get the most shots day one, but with the ''Everybody Eats'' motto, Dillon and VV has the longest leash to do as they please on the court, so Bari will have to be more aggressive when he has the ball and still take the same shots within the offense (his post ups/3's) As Bari gets more experience/strength he will get his shots no doubt
