We had our splash. Enough already. This was kinda funny the 1st 500th time. They can't all be a splash.

Lets let this joke die the rightful death of 6 months ago.

Do we know for sure if Padgett has been resigned? The 740 report could be right but can anyone confirm it.

I am really hoping we keep Howard. I really like this guy and he really brings more to the table the Mo T does....But both of them are considered cap fillers in a trade so lets see what happens.

good job by the rox. :)

i don't see what brian cardinal does that pad doesn't do... and i'm sure it's for less money (i hope). both are pretty much energy guys that do more good for the team while they're on the floor.

how is this a bad signing (if it's not a b-card type contract)?

I don't remember that, I remember the Twolves going after Howard pretty strong last summer.

    Glad you caught on. :)

Seriously after the contracts handed out to guys like Maloney and Brent Price, I wouldn't put anything past our management.

I want Howard to stay. However I don't think we'll keep these 4 pfs unless one of them developes a hangnail. ;)

I think the main reason for the speculation is the fact that Chandler's name was in the discussion at all. Outside of Yao and Tmac, it didn't look like the Rox had anything to offer (and obviously they aren't going anywhere). Through a process of elimination, people figured that Howard must have been part of the discussion because they wouldn't want Mo, and they'd need to get a PF back if they decide to trade Chandler.

But even though Chicago might have backed off giving up Tyson, I think the suspicion that Howard might be gone is still valid. Why sign Padge when we're looking for backup C. We already have Howard, Mo, and Spoon at the PF spot with plenty of guaranteed years left. Maybe not Chandler but maybe CD is prepping for another deal. And it's just a little too convenient that Padge was signed on the same day that Howard's 60 day trade restriction came off. Hmm. Very interesting.

I'm not saying Howard is going to be moved, but I'm not not saying it either. If you know what I mean.

    My $0.02...

I basically like Padg. I felt he always hustled. had a decent shot and mixed it up on the D. Clearly a "coachable" player.

As to the PF log jam, I think Padg really plays the three game more than the four. Also, the three or four PFs wiil get some minutes as the back up center. At least until a real back up is signed - which could easily involve moving one of the three/four.

As tio trade speculation, maybe Padget was signed so he could be traded. Much as Lue was. Pure speculation though.

Well, now that we have an abundance of 4's (with Padgett), I went and looked at teams that could or need a power forward along with having an abundance of centers. These are the teams that stuck out to me.

    ----------------------------------------------

CHICAGO - Chandler's inconsistency and upcoming free agency could scare the Bulls into trading him. He is going to ask for a hefty raise and may not deserve it. They may look to get something for him while they can. Howard has a relationship with Curry and the Bulls have been a team that has pursued him in the recent past.

PLAYERS OF INTEREST: Tyson Chandler-see above. Eddie Robinson-they would like to rid his contract. Dikembe Mutombo-wants out of Chicago.

    IDEA: Howard/Spoon/Pike/1 pick for Chandler/Robinson/Deke

    ----------------------------------------------

MILWUAKEE - Joe Smith is really a power forward but, with thier roster, he is the best center they have. The same can be said for Keith Van Horn playing the 4. The Bucks have plenty of backup quality centers and could move one to get a power forward to move Van Horn to small forward or trade him and give the starting spot to Mason.

PLAYERS OF INTEREST: Keith Van Horn-could look to move his contract. Desmond Mason-if they want to keep Van Horn then he could be expendable. Any of thier big men-all backup quality.

    IDEA: Taylor/Pike for Gadzuric/Mason

    ----------------------------------------------

DALLAS - Hard to imagine trading with a division rival but they have a ton of big men. I see Nowitzki as a small forward and not a 4. That said, to move him, they need a legit power forward. They might be interested in a Howard to help anchor the inside for a couple of years to go for a championship along side Dampier.

PLAYERS OF INTEREST: Shawn Bradley-with Dampier and Podkolzin, his role has diminished. Josh Howard-they like him but may need to ne included to sweeten any deal for someone like Bradley.

    IDEA: Howard/Pike for Bradley/Howard

    ----------------------------------------------

SEATTLE - Like Dallas, Seattle has a European big man playing the 4. But, unlike Nowvizki, Radmanovic really should play center. All they have are backup quality centers and moving Radman over and getting a legit power forward could make them a competitve team of shooters. After much love and hype early on, Rashard Lewis could be on his way out.

PLAYERS OF INTEREST: Rashard Lewis-see above. Jerome James & Potepenko-backup quality centers.

    IDEA: Howard/JJ/Lue/Gaines for Lewis/James/Daniels

    ----------------------------------------------

It seems I used Howard in all but one idea of mine. I really like Howard, but feel he is one the Rockets' biggest trade assets and would have to be used to get something REALLY worth while.

    Anyway, thoughts?

I like bringing Padgett back. I think he's reasonable insurance. He can do some basic things from the 3 or 4 spot. Nice backup. I think I'd prefer Tmo, but Padgett's really the same kind of player, with a little less board, a little less d, and a little more shot.

We need to throw Mo Taylor from the charter jet at 20,000 feet. He is useless garbage that should never play here again. He's a black hole and a cancer. he can't play with Yao. Moochinate Him. Trade him for someone else's garbage that can at least be team-player garbage.

Guys like Padgett, Sura, and Ward aren't bad. They are solid role players. If we got him for virtually nothing, that's not bad.

I agree. I like Padgett. But I hope we didn't sign him to get rid of Howard. That would be a mistake.

Yea but what if what we got in return is a Brand or Chandler? One or both could be unlikely but then signing Padgett to trade Howard would not be a mistake. IMO

He is just a really smart player in my opinion. He knows his limitations when he is on the court and he doesnt try to do more than he knows he is able to.

That way he is effective when he is out there and does his job.

I liked him all of last year.

Matt Sampsell on Fox 26 also reported Padgett signing. No contract details given. He did mention Padgett shot 43% from 3's last year.
