I never was one to see all the "big deal" movies/shows, but I usually saw a decent amount. This year, the only movie I've seen that's listed above is Super Mario Bros. The only TV shows I've seen are Barry, Jury Duty, and The Last of Us. I blame my kids. I did see the Rock and Gervais stand-up specials. So I guess that counts too. Also, including an Amy Schumer special in the list of best stand-up comedies makes me question the entire nomination process. Come on. Come on.
Despite it being the only one of these movies/shows I've seen, I'm confident in saying Succession deserves all the awards.
At a glance, and having no strong opinions about stuff like this in general, the one thing that jumps out at me is Woody being nominated for White House Plumbers and not Justin Theroux, who was amazing as Gordon Liddy
How is the dude from the Bear worthy of winning an award for acting? The show is good (slightly overrated but different enough from other shows that I'll let it slide). But he basically doesn't do anything ever on the show. He just stands there with a blank/dumb stare and big eyes while everyone else around him acts their butts off. The most famous episode of the show they get credible actors - Jamie Lee Curtis, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Shane/Punisher - and have them doing all kinds of stuff. They carry the entire episode. Chef dude just sits around quietly looking around. Even the comedian married to Olivia Munn had more lines/impact on the episode. The **** is going? This chef actor dude has the world conned. Even his status as menswear icon seems unearned. I like the guy fine. But come on.
Yes, I tried to watch it but it doesn't do anything for me, loved the dude in Shameless and cant wait to see him in the wrasslin movie but the show is meh at best. There were so many other really good shows....................I guess I have no taste LOL
Maybe Woody has more friends in the business and they haven’t forgotten his brilliant supporting role in 2012.
Lily Gladstone is from Kalispell Montana, about an hour and a half from where I grew up. She is from Blackfeet reservation. I grew up on Flathead Reservation. I knew she was Native American, but I didn’t know this until she won her award.
Probably the best tidbit from this awards show.... Paul Giamatti traded a fancy dinner for a good ol' burger and fries to celebrate his Golden Globes win ... beelining straight to an In-N-Out after the awards ceremony Sunday evening. The suited and booted actor dined at the popular fast food restaurant in Westwood ... his shiny Best Actor trophy, which he won for 'The Holdovers', perched alongside trays of food. Writer Evan Ross Katz shared the IG snap ... writing, "Paul Giamatti celebrating his Golden Globe win at In-N-Out. King. Absolutely no notes." Paul's low-key sighting comes after finding himself the center of attention while collecting his awards earlier onstage. With the GGs setting the tone for the rest of the award season, it looks like Paul could be in and out of In-N-Out a whole lot more this year! https://www.tmz.com/2024/01/08/paul-giamatti-in-n-out-golden-globes-burger-celebrates-win/
Dude is underrated, he is an actor I would like to sit down and have a beer with. I watched a few minutes of the monologue and that didn't seem to be going over well, you cant diss on TSwift LOL..........not sure who the dude was but I didn't think he was very funny, and by the looks of what I saw the audience was very happy with it. Glad Oppenheimer and Barbie got some hardware
lol yes, he started out in like the 90s doingurban comedy like BET comic view. Dude been in the game since forever.
