Jabari also doesn't get the same hate because he has shown improvement from year 1 to year 2.

We're in year 3 and still scratching our head at things we noted he needs to improve from his very first game in the NBA.

The fact he still cannot go two games in a row with doing something that worked well for him, is astonishing to me. Most players find something that works and they milk it for all it's worth.

Jalen - knock down a few middies in a row? Cool let me just put that shot on ice for a couple of weeks.

Jalen - couple of the easiest buckets i'll ever get because I've moved off ball? Maybe I'll do that for the third time this season, in game 82.

Jalen - shows a slight hesi/change of pace on a drive to fool one of the best interior defenders in Lopez, and gets an easy bucket? I've done it once in 3 seasons, that is enough for now.

I think that is one of the most frustrating things about him. Jalen clearly does have the tools already to be a more effective scorer than he is. He is lacking in certain skills and a lot of strength but he CAN change speeds, he CAN be dangerous off ball and he CAN put the ball in the basket. He just never seems to stick to what works, for whatever reason. It’s like he’s a jack of all trades on offense without a go-to move and we don’t know what we’ll get from him on a game to game basis.

This is tricky and it sounds he is like a 6th man or a 29 minute per game starter who is not reliable.....

I'm fearful this is because of his basketball IQ. He simply cannot recognise that.

Which is why I'm largely of the belief he'll never come close to as good as people want him to be.

I've never seen Jalen change speeds. It's either normal dribble or full speed ahead as fast as he can. Guys like Jaquez get to the rim more reliably than Jalen because they understand angles, positioning, hesitations etc.

Jalen got the Bucks a few times in the first half with some change-of-pace drives (unless I'm remembering wrong) and drew a foul and got a layup. And then he inexplicably stopped doing it.

I'm of the minority opinion that Jalen's bag isn't as limited as most think it is--but he not supremely comfortable with any of the moves he does have and it shows.

Jabari also gives you other things when he's not scoring.

Bag is something probably like an extended limb or something that is a fixture .......

That is there when you have to resort to it....in a way he is still learning and has not mastered.

I remember him hitting a bunch of floaters one game last season, never seen him attempt it again.

I think he's just afraid of contact. It's obvious when watching Cam who is the exact opposite of this. He seeks it out and wants to punish defenders for getting in the way. Jalen resorts to chucking 3s because he doesn't want to do what Alpy has to do night in and night out. Gets very easy to defend him because you shut off his drives and he'll just come back out and chuck a 3 which he then misses because 12 seconds already came off the clock.

Against a team like the Heat who scout you hard, his shortcomings become very apparent. His other issue is his processing of the game. It isn't at Amen/Sengun/Fred level which would make up for it (Haliburton and SGA who's worst years they shot 45 and 47% from the field). There are likely talks going on between Stone/Udoka about the SG situation and how best to proceed. I was a huge Jalen stan and wanted him over the others in his draft. But his clock is likely ticking a lot louder than he thinks it is.

It is funny to do that as an average shooter.

Jalen suffers from the same problem Andrew Wiggins had. His talent doesn't match his physical gifts. Neither are crafty enough to break down their man consistently, nor are they good enough shooters to space the floor. The defense will simply live with their shots. That's the NBA no man's land, can't play off ball and not good enough to iso.

Jalen's efficiency has dropped year over year despite his added experience, while his teammates are improving. That's similar to Wiggins, whose fourth year was his least efficient to date despite being the third option behind a very efficient Towns and Butler. Wiggins improved after being traded to GS, so perhaps Jalen will improve after we add an MVP and couple of other all-stars.

I mean there is really no doubt the starting five will be lot better without JG. Just factual statistical perspective, literally the plus/minus (which is by the way how you win the game - by outscoring the opponent) will be lot better without JG. Starting five of VanVleet, Brooks, Bari, Sengun and someone who contributes to winning will be really strong. We know we're keeping him because of the investment we've made so far and we need to see it through. This is again plain facts

Probably the best comparison for Jalen Green I've heard. He's like those star college QBs that aren't fast enough to beat LBs and not smart enough to beat defensive coordinators.
