I would imagine it was his reaction to not making the Pro Bowl. Not listening to any of the outside noise.

It just East Coast bias, Sauce plays in New York, so people prefer Sauce, thats why he was All-Pro last year.

It's probably also a function of Sauce having a great year last year while Stingley was injured a lot. Sauce is more prevalent in people's minds because they've seen him more, overall.

There are also people saying he missed games but he's played 10 games while Jalen Ramsey has only played 9. Definitely East Coast bias.

Except Jalen Ramsey has been a household name for years now. This is Stingley's 2nd year and he missed a LOT of his first year, so people just haven't seen him as much. I'm not saying the east coast bias isn't a thing, but I think people put waaaaay too much emphasis on that affecting why certain players get more attention than others.

That's still basically what's being said. People go for the big names instead of who's making the bigger impact. Year 1 should not indicate whether you are a Pro Bowler in Year 2.

Big name doesn't necessarily mean the big name plays on the east coast. I agree it doesn't make sense that his absence in year 1 shouldn't affect the voting of year 2, I'm just pointing out reasons why it may have happened that are NOT east coast bias.

In this case it is though. Ramsey and Sauce are on the East Coast.

I'm not sure the point of continuing this discussion as it feels like we are talking past each other. But I'll end by saying that just because a player plays on the east coast doesn't automatically mean that any and all bias of that player over another is attributed to the idea of east coast bias. There could be other factors, as I've mentioned.

Yep. Pro Bowl voting tends to lag about a year behind. I would guess it’s mostly rooted in apathy and so the voters gravitate toward more known quantities.

Barring a significantly better season, there was no way Stingley was going to jump Gardner’s reputation in (less than) a single season.
