Congratulations for giving to your daughter a beautiful name. Alp's plain meaning is Valiant rather than Warrior. As a title it means Knight/Cheval. If he was Italian his name would be Santo Valoroso Allegrogiorno or Santo Cavalleri Allegrogiorno . Not bad names And he would date Ms. Mezzogiorno of "The love in cholera time"
I think Stone didn’t even want Sengun to the be the starting center so yeah, we were lucky. Sengun has been making this entire Rockets organization look like morons for not believing in him. from the GM to the Coach last year to the PR team who is still trying to find a way to make Jalen Green a thing when he’s clearly not even the 7th best player on the team
Man I don't hate them, but I don't like them. I don't think they admitted their mistakes by their own want, they did because they had to do. These two are completely different. Stone is a professional and he's making money from this franchise. If he can't even do what he should do best, scouting talent, and only realizes the most potential player on the team after two and a half years, I don't see any reason to like him. If the Bucks had let him go, imagine bringing Brook Lopez here this summer and sending Sengun away. You wouldn't be so kind like that right now. If Stone is still around the Rockets, he should be grateful to the Bucks. Despite everything, what Stone said, "I'm not surprised by Sengun's game" (acting as if he had faith in him from the very beginning), which completely alienated me from him.
I think guys like @Nook touched on it..... One big reason Stone has been named GM is that he can be good with politics and he has been sucking up to Ferntits since Day 1.
I got difficulty to talk about GM and his deputies because I/we have lack of knowledge about this Eli Witus guy and his impact in decisions. There is a rumour that Witus wanted Alp rather than Stone. Another rumour is Rockets wanted to draft Sengun via trade #6 pick afterwards and negotiated every team. So, it might be Stone was deciding earlier picks and Witus were more impactful mid FRPs (Alp, Tari, Cam). In that case it means Witus is more able to draft. If so who decided for Garuba, Josh, TyTy. But if Rockets was looking trade for Alp in earlier stage of draft it wasn't possible without Stone. I guess Stone wanted Alp, in a way. Alp was a problem for Silas&Co system. Low level multinational staff like to label someone as "overqualified" if they find the candidate a threat for their comfort zone. Alp was overqualified for that group. Alp makes Stone's hand strong, there is no reason for him not to like Alp. Silas&Co is a long forgotten history. Future is bright, watching Alp&Tari and the young core joyful.
When @Francis3422 started a thread more than 2 years ago I posted "Alp has become MVP in every league he played, NBA is the next". Whether they joke or not, I don't know, but Alperen Sengun will be MVP in NBA also.
What an odd list. I can't imagine what they based this on. Like 30% on court play, 20% potential, 50% media hype? How could you possibly put Scoot at #5?
See @harold bingo's explanation, I didn't bother. Also, Jalen Green should be higher than several people on that list.
Sengun has averaged 25/9/5 the last ten games. If he keeps that up, it puts him in pretty elite company.
