I have a question to you guys who live in in College Station. Do have cable internet or DSL? If so who is your provider and what's the cost?

I was searching through google yesterday but really couldn't get much info other than dial ups and satelite internet connections.

I don't know too much about DSL other than that it uses a phone line. Does it use the phone line like a modem, in that you can't use the line for telephone/internet use simultaneously?

I recently moved, and I am hoping to get something other than dialup, but if I can't find a reasonable price etc. then I might have dig down and get a dialup provider.

Anyways, any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    ---UP

I had Cox and a friend had SBC DSL. Both are about the same in terms of speed.

Yeah, I was thinking of gettign cox but I wanted to see more from the "competitors", also i didn't know the price of cox cable internet yet. I am expecting aroudn the $40 mark.

Thanks for the link, not much for College Station though, but there was one review.

I am thinking of getting COX.

Does DSL allow you to use the telephone and internet simultaniously?

Yes. I'm with Verizon right now because the apartment complex gives me no choice. About $15 per month for the cheapest ass phone service possible, and $30 per month DSL for now.

If you are a student check with both of the companies. You may get a student discount.

My local cox cable modem is $25 a month since they have a deal with the school.

My brother got Verizon DSL in CS recently, and I was VERY impressed with how fast it was. Much better than my folks' SBC.

DSL speed all depends on your location to their hub. I got rather decent speeds in CS with Cox. Usually maxed out @ 120kbs.

Yeah, I was living in Nice for a while. I returned recently. Now I'm back in my little town of College Station for the last 6 years. I figured I didn't know anyone around anymore, but I've run into a bunch of people ranging from poker buddies to ballers that are still here.

I think I'll stay in Texas for another 3 years before my girl (by that time wife) and I decide where to start the family phase of our lives.

I'd really like to go back to live in France again; not permanently, but maybe during the summers if everything goes well. Corsica is just spectacular.

Wow, thanks for the info guys. I am going to call up COX today and Verizon to see what I can get it for.

Yes, I am currently a student...and a student discount would be sweet.
