In terms of pass blocking the unit has been effective thanks to CJ delivering on time. We saw how it went with Case yes? Run blocking is an abomination and could certainly use better players to fit what Slowik wants to do in terms of getting the IOL moving on inside blocking action and pulls. While the unit overperformed I still feel finding another guard and a starting C would do marvels for the entire offense. We are smack dab right in the middle of red zone TD scoring. While not overly impressive I dont think its the biggest weakness on the team. I think defending the run has been a much more glaring issue. Safety play has been abysmal. Stover is a nice player. That he has rapport with CJ is a cool story, I value TEs about as much as I value RBs and that may just be a personal bias. Im not sure what you want me to key on when you say "look at the top RBs compared to Singletary" ?? I really like Will and Greenard at the edge. Whats not to like? edit: Our defensive unit is ranked 4th vs the run! LOL -- DOH! Could have fooled me. That is really interesting to dive into over the next few months especially since I felt our back end was solid and lo and behold stats say we are terrible vs the pass.
I'm thinking when Patterson and the Green's make it back to go along with Scruggs the iol will be upgraded. I mean what's the odds of having to use 3 LG's and 4 Centers in a season? Frankly I'm surprised they have done as well as they have. Just staying relatively healthy would be an upgrade. Since Singletary has taken over the run game has been avg to slightly above avg despite having the ol issues I listed above. Singletary is a JAG. Imagine having a healthy Chubb behind a healthy ol, that's who I think Benson is. I think a RB corps of Benson and Singletary would be very solid. If you want to add an Achane type RB then you could probably get Irving in the mid 3rd to early 4th rd range. Irving is a guy who is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Something this offense has really missed. As far as Stover goes, he would be the best blocking TE on the team the minute he entered the doors down on Kirby. He's so much better than Jordan you can't even compare the 2. If you notice the 49ers even with all of their weapons still run a lot of 12 personnel. Why? Because they have above avg blocking TE's. If Caserio was to pick Stover the Texans TE pairing Schultz and Stover would give you close to what the 49ers have at the TE position.
Bro we literally just drafted 2 guards/centers last draft. Plus we have 2 first round tackles.. give ‘Em a minute to gel with this brand new scheme. Focus on d-line, secondary, WR, RB. I want saquon, Schultz, greenard, DT in FA. If we can’t get Saquon, draft one in the 3rd. WR and secondary in the draft. I would trade up for Legette if I have to. @Two Sandwiches now I’m just watching highlights… I’m obsessed now lol
Would he really though? The Patriots are a mess, they have very little talent and are about to show Belichick the door. They need a complete ground up rebuild and aren't likely to be any good for at minimum several years. He's in a much better situation here.
Sorry fam I cant get down with paying a RB 10Ms+ for basically doing what Devin Singletary did. Im not going to waste a late 1st round draft pick on a position (WR) that is the deepest in a weaker draft nor am I trading up for Legette much more inclined to do it for a better player, but you could probably catch that guy naturally without needing any movement. If you expect some organic growth from Kenyon Green, Juice Scruggs and Justin Patterson - cool you have a better opinion of the OL than I do and thats fine I would prefer to keep CJ much cleaner after the beating he took this year. Wideouts will be falling over themselves to come play with CJ on the free agent market. RBs are a dime a dozen. I 100% agree that DT should be addressed, but then again we had one of the best run stuffing defenses in football. Are we getting caught up in fan narratives and confirmation bias? Are our LBs as bad as some think? Honestly after watching Pitre crash and burn this year and Jimmy Ward struggle to stay healthy I'd probably start thinking about safety being a position of need too.
Sure this is for jokes since they're currently at 3, which would land us Marvin Harrison Jr But I would do it for a 2nd rounder if we could get Adam Peters.
Definitely fair. If Caserio is a true Texans GM and cares, he would tell Hannah to trade him to the Patriots for their 1st rounder. Would really love to have MHjr
IIRC the Patriots made it exceptionally hard for the Texans to hire Caserio in the first place. They did not put Caserio's interests (promotion and higher salary) before their own. So I say **** the Patriots.
Just to clarify, you do not have any optimism that our 2nd round Scruggs and league-wide surprise 6th round Patterson are not going to have natural growth in year 2?! No one said anything about Kenyon Green. You pay to dollar for Tunsil and Howard who needs to move back to RT. You drafted a C and LG in the draft at 2nd rd and 6th (with the 6th looking way better than his draft stock). Im just wondering why you think spending another 1st or 2nd rounder on OL would be any different.. that’s ridiculous. a late first on a deep WR in a weak draft is bad? This is possibly the best draft class of WR I can remember and we need a WR… I said I want saquon, but I also never mentioned money and said if we can’t get him (he’s too much money) then get an RB in the 3rd. But sportrac has him at $6m per not 10. Just wondering if you would do it at $6? I dunno, it sounds like you are just one of those old school draft nothing but trenches every year type guys? Completely overlooking the capital we have already spent on OL. Yes, we see thing very differently.
There's another Green we picked up as well, but the transactions are gone. Kendrick Green https://www.battleredblog.com/houst...s-pittsburgh-steelers-ol-kendrick-green-trade If my calculations are right, he should still have a year left on his rookie contract (2021).
Do you think if Thomas was playing tomorrow the Texans would have a better chance of winning than say Sedrick Van Prann was playing for the Texans tomorrow? This isn't even taking into account the injured guys coming back? I very easily could get on board with picking Nubin in rd 2 or Bishop in rd 3 or 4.
