A quarter of the season competed and were on pace for about 45 wins. Not bad. I had us around 37 wins
I'm sure the league bent over backwards to have noted media hype job... *checks notes* ...Alperen Sengun emerge as a franchise player.
League could make Sengun at Jokic's level right now if they wanted. League could make Jalen Green equal to MJ level (rookie season) if they wanted. ....but they don't, because they are with the Rockets. Do you recall when Harden should have been winning MVP awards but they didn't give them to him because he, "was Rockets"....NBA world would bad mouthed him....then he went to the Nets and oh boy the narrative changed!! "Now this is a Great Harden" "Harden is amazing" "This guy is so fun to watch" It was the same Harden....only their narrative changed once he left Houston. League will have Pops and Wemby passing Sengun and Jalen before you know it. Like pro wrestling that has heroes and heels.....the Rockets are the heels. Adding one of the most hated players In Dillon Brooks solidifies that. But they need the heel to be competitive, Unlike the Washington Generals. There are only two teams when talking about Harlem Globetrotters and Washington Generals. The league and public won't see a rivalry in the good teams and a last place Rockets team. Thus the assistance. Face Kings without Fox (twice)...couple days later he returns Face Lakers without AD....couple days later he returns Face Nuggets without Murray....couple days later returns League has kept Bradley Beal out so Lakers can win the LeBron Invitational.... couple days later Beal comes back. (Lakers had one of the weakest draws... supposedly a random drawing) Lakers didn't have the ball when they called timeout vs Suns. Granted Myles Turner got to play physically vs Giannis one game but ticky tack fouls vs AD. All the pundits talking up LeBron for weeks prior to the in season tournament finals.... I called game to Lakers in the first quarter. Even told a member here the MVP trophy would go to LeBron. This mens soap opera is getting predictable. Too predictable. * Dillon Brooks has the same crappy stance and release as he did with the Grizz.... but now he is Steph Curry from 3. Sure, you are going to tell me the last 5 years of his shooting was the anomaly.....this year is the real Dillon Brooks. That's a joke, the league is rewarding Brooks for playing the heel. Electromagnetic rims that can activate with the press of a button. Yeah that same guy who shot a foot off from the rim and hit the side of the back board (just like Westbrook) is now a deadeye shooter. Sure, I was born in the morning but it wasn't this morning. *Side note: NBA Implemented tracking which maps every player on the court every second of the game. GPS tracking can somehow be used to proximity of player to rim along with the specs of each basketball noting technological devices.....and nobody is allowed to walk away with said basketballs used in the game....? Why not? Does a player just have to shoot the ball somewhere close and technology take over the rest? Could the balls be laced with metal fiber threads or chips? I don't want to say too much.....those that say too much end up disappearing. *Side note: forgot to mention Warriors were up on Kings in last year's playoffs (3-1)..... pre game show displayed Warriors as (3-2) and Kings as (2-3). Just a typo error I'm sure.....they knew the outcome pre game. Sure enough the Kings ended up winning.
I've seen you on Texans forum (CF's) .....did you see me discuss Jags beating the Texans recently. I said the league didn't want Houston going from worst to first while having the tie-breaker over the Jags the rest of the way. Guy argued with me. I responded, "I'm not saying the Texans won't be there......but the league likes it's flexibility to fandango things the rest of the way." I said, "if Trevor Lawrence gets hurt.....Texans can step right up." I kid you not, Lawrence got hurt the next game. Person on you tube posted a video saying this stuff is rigged. Show video of Lawrence getting stepped on, holding his right ankle in excruciating pain, then sits up while putting all his weight on his right ankle.....and then was pretending it was his left ankle hurt. Video guy noted: player from opposite team was there praying for him for special effects. Come on man. Texans CF (and NFL) didn't let me post video. But here is one where former NBA players are talking (at the risk of being banned) Here is the Lawrence video. Probably have to follow the link to you tube
You saw the Scott Foster experience, can recall the Tim Doneghey story with ease, know that even injuries are mostly fake, and it was Alperen Sengun playing well that finally confirmed your suspicion? Not surprised to see fake injuries (walking after an achilles tear???) in the NFL after open gambling became legal nationwide. Much like how the dirty open secret of the internet is that p*rnography gets more traffic than Google, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, combined, and it's not even close. The new open secret in sports is that Gambling is a 150 billion per year industry, dwarfing any money made through TV deals, merchandizing, and all other legitimate ways to generate revenue combined by every pro sports league in the US.
I want to make a correction. Kings were leading 2-0 in that Warriors series. But my recollection is a pre game show had a team (must have been the Warriors) 3-2 before Game 5. Fans were irate calling in and going to Instagram to complain. What did they know that everyone else didn't. I just can't find the video now. So we can scratch that one. Add: league helping Houston by scheduling Memphis 3 times vs Rockets without Ja Morant (during 25 gm suspension) or Hornets without Miles Bridges (suspension) Hornets are 4-6 with Miles as a starter since returning. But I digress. People can believe what they want. **I'm guessing you are talking about Aaron Rodgers tearing Achilles game one and them talking about Aaron Rodgers returning to practice possibly 14 weeks later?
Happily admit I was way off on my belief that the playoffs was a huge long shot. I thought at the very best we would fight for the 10th spot and likely fall just short. Now it seems like we could legit fight for 7-8 maybe even a tad higher if luck breaks our way and 10th feels like our floor. Still pretty confident Brooks isn’t going to be getting DPOY consideration even with our teams big defensive improvement. Haven’t seen his name show up on any of the sports books as a favorite or even top 10 names considered. Still early-ish so I guess that could change. Since defensive metrics are still so unreliable I think DPOY is one of the most narrative driven rewards the league gives out and Brooks doesn’t have a strong media narrative push as of now.
Happy everyone from the Silas years is experiencing a winning culture. It's a very good team. Expected record should be 22-10. That west coast trip with elite vintage refereeing followed by youthfulness giving away the Pacers and Sixers games. That's the difference between being a .531 club and .690, not nice.
Agree, plus the missed time he probably won't be mentioned in the award, but I'd bet that by rockets measures and eye test, fan base will be behind him as a lockdown defender.
