The other side of the 3 second rounders is to use them on our 2way players for next year. Or even draft and stash options. There are some interesting upperclassmen or international prospects that might be worth a look at, and none of the 2xNates or Samuels fill me with confidence that they will be contributors - next man up?
This, but more importantly, the Nets might start considering the tank more as they continue to lose. We have the most to offer them in a trade scenario where they are looking to rebuild given we got their picks.
I agree. We should be marketing our picks. I wouldn’t give them away for journeymen though. They need to be solid rotation players on a contending team. No to the Holidays of the world.
If we can't get a talent upgrade with these picks, and I think it would be difficult to do so with where Brooklyn is currently projected, it would be great to focus on developing frontcourt depth in the draft. Jeff is great but on his last legs and Landale simply does not deserve to be in the rotation. With Sengun's second contract looming I doubt we'll be able to spend significant money on his and Jabari's backups. Some will argue that more rookies aren't needed and can't contribute to wins, but that is far from a certainty. Derek Lively II was picked 12th in last year's draft (right around where the Nets pick would currently slot) and was supposed to be a project center, but has instead started nearly every game for the Mavs and made a huge impact for them defensively. OKC's rotation is made up largely of their draft picks and they are 2nd in the West. Even though they're loaded at the guard position they still have time to develop Cason Wallace (10th pick in last year's draft), who looks very solid so far. Taking into account Brooklyn's recent slide, 2-8 in their last ten, I wouldn't even entertain trading the picks until near the draft unless a young all-star is available. We don't need more vets and our window to contend isn't now, it's 2-3 years from now or possibly further. There is still time to develop draft picks.
Marketing it is fine, but I would be careful moving it. Right now, that Nets pick is nearly a top 10 pick, and there are only like 4-5 teams that are certain to have a worse record.
Jesus Christ. Someone with sound logic and opinions. You need time to truly asses what you have with players like Whitmore/Amen/Green/Eason. I believe Jabari and Sengun are clear starters into the future. Perhaps Eason eventually starts as well. Then you have to figure out what you do with Green/Amen/Cam/brooklyn picks for two guard positions. Perhaps not many trades need to happen at all and the team can be fleshed out with talent drafted and can have long sustained success with depth created in Houston.
I didn't even mention 18th pick Jaime Jaquez Jr. Miami is very much a win now team and they're over the moon with him. Sure, they would have loved to get a star like Lillard, but couldn't get him for picks alone and Jaquez has been an instant contributor. I doubt Miami, OKC, or Dallas wish they had traded their pick for a vet. Even the defending championship Nuggets have time to develop Christian Braun, Peyton Watson, and Julian Strawther but we're too deep for rookies apparently. Like you said, we need time to assess what we currently have. What if Amen and Cam are busts? What if we have injuries to our core prospects? Suddenly we'd have development spots open again.
Jalen and couple picks for Bridges. 27 years old, great shooter, 2 way player we would be instantly better on offense and defense.
These swaps are part of the juice. I wouldn't want Cam Johnson being the principal in any deal involving them.
Nets got destroyed again tonight by the Pelicans. Bridges is not looking so great lately -- averaging 16.6 points while shooting 38% the last 10 games.
Trade all the BK picks to PHX for KD. Then phx and bk can trade with each other to get their futures back. And we get the perfect vet for our young guys while moving into contention. I would not include any of our young players in this deal. Just Brooklyn picks and salary fillers
the Brooklyn picks should be used in a deal that allows us to contend with Boston, okc, Philly, Denver etc. as much as I like bridges, he doesn’t get us there. No point using all out bullets to be a 4-5 seed
