dafuq does this even mean it gets warmer around the north pole, but colder in Europe and the US? I blame Greta
That the damn polar air gets trapped over the US and instead of it being cold, it’s frigid. Like 10-20 degrees below average. It’s worse than warm winter.
Today it was 68 in SW Oregon. We set a record for highest overnight low at 62. Nothing but rain in the forecast with snow only at the elevations in the Cascades. Current snow elevation boundary is one of the lowest on record.
I love this headline: Minnesota Nice Wants Minnesota Ice: Locals Crave Bone-Chilling Normal ‘Maybe we’ll get lucky and have a polar vortex.’ Unusually mild weather has shaken up seasonal routines, though golfing in winter isn’t bad. https://www.wsj.com/us-news/minnesota-record-warm-snowless-winter-disrupts-life-2a5f2663 @rocketsjudoka
Not surprising. I’ve been hearing from a lot of people how much they don’t like the brown winter. There is some big costs to ice fishing businesses and others that rely upon cold winters. I’ve been in Hong Kong the last few days and it’s been unusually warm here. They set a record warm temperature for NYE. It felt like it was in the 80’s. HK is usually in the 50’s this time of year. I’m not looking forward to going back to Mn if there is a polar vortex
