Teaching a young fashionable influencer about whether his pre-game dance ritual is cool. Fascinating.
These guys don't realise that they're the basketball "cool" equivalent of parents in the 80's telling their kids that "rap crap" is rubbish and won't last. Always amazes me how people cast themselves as cultural gatekeepers, completely unaware that they're just very out of touch people stuck in the past.
Honestly I think Green has passable handles and good enough passing. His problems come down to one thing - Putting the ball thru the hoop. It's all about shooting. When he's knocking down the outside shot, the rest of the game comes easy. We hear about how he was "in the lab" all offseason working on this and that - he was working on everything but what he needed to - Shooting. That's what I want to see him do this offseason - assuming he remains a Rocket - work on his shooting.
He can booty shake on a pole, flop his hair while showing off his painted nails with replays of him pounding JC on the background for all care. I just need him to play up to his potential.
Was it a coincidence that his best game came without Brooks and Jabari? I think he plays better knowing he is suppose to take more shots in our offense.
Difficult to tell if that's what it is. People say last game was his best game of the season but he had a stretch during that long winning streak where he had a span of arguably better games against teams like the Lakers and Grizzles and both Bari and Brooks were playing. He just had a 3 week stretch of all of his confidence zapped. I think that more has to do with him sitting out fourth quarters for like multiple games. I think that probably.killed his confidence the most.
One thing I notice about Green is that he looks to be taking the game and his opportunities much more seriously. He seems to be more stoic on the court, and when he celebrates, it’s under a much more controlled manner. He looks to have more composure and poise. This is probably the first time Jalen realizes that his volume scoring isn’t going to maximize his teams winning chances; and he obviously sulked when he realized that fact (he was looking depressed and like he had eaten quite a bit of Crow). With Sengun and VanVleet carrying the load of the efficiency for winning on a night to night basis, they’d have established that they can pull the wagon without a clown parade of a Harlem Globetrotter wannabe. Winning basketball is quite different that the And-1 style fiasco. Green’s put in the work defensively, and is providing a positive return in Win-share on the defensive end, whereas he’s been a negative on Offensive side of things. But after the last few games, I think there is real hope that Green is on a trajectory that will allow him to harness his full arsenal within efficient and effective winning basketball; he looked like the shooting guard the team needs.
The problem with him is uncertainty.....I thought he was 26 the way he played but he is only 23-24 yr old...... If Toronto can make him an All Star then more power to them. At his age most teams are still not giving up on him (Personally dislike)......he is making 24-28 million....also just Dillon Brooks type of money....... RJ Barrett that is. 16-18 ppg not efficient shooter......
Cool Clutchfan teaching us about the world of influencers that cannot string together full sentences.....
Barrett and Green has almost identical ppg and TS%. And Green is two years younger with 2 years less NBA experience playing on a worse team. Whatever ceiling you believe Green has, his floor is pretty much RJ Barrett.
Have not watched Barrett enough in his first 2-3 years but I happened to watch Team Canada and he was a tad worse than Dillon Brooks, he was their 2nd to 3rd option still.....was doing alright against mediocre competition. Defensively he is inconsistent, basically the Offense side of Dillon Brooks. He is what 6'6, seems like the trajectory of Andrew Wiggins before he had that 1-2 seasons with the Worriers.....maybe .....
Imagine thinking that somebody not being great on a microphone means anything. In fact, he's that shy on camera and STILL more marketable than you'll ever be on your best day.
Ri Barrett definitely seems to be Green's floor. The past 3 weeks of Green being horrendous is something Barret has had routine spans of in his 4th year in the league around more accomplished veteran talent also. Green is just a significantly more talented athlete not just in explosion and quickness but balance and creativity.
