this works better when you can watch it in parts at home, like a miniseries

If you've read the book, the movie should be a giant letdown.

The two giant stars are put center stage. There is no mystery, no lead-up. The protagonist is pushed to the back.

And, of course, there are so many revelations that didn't make it into the movie. I know the book is always better, but jeeeeeeez, outside of the acting, which is superb (DeNiro and Glastone could walk away with Oscars, with DiCaprio nominated)......man, just a big missed opportunity.

Dang. Finally set aside the time and... just meh. Leo is honestly pretty bad, just b/c his character is so dumb and unsympathetic, but we're forced to spend 3 hours with him. Him hamming it up with his fake teeth and fake accent, wondering all the while why any other character would put up with him.

DeNiro, Gladstone, and Plemons are incredible, as are several last-hour cameo performances, but in the end, this movie feels like it lurches one useless violent set piece to the next, and in that sense, feels very repetitive and not worth its total time.

Marty S has made some incredible movies, but for me, this is not one of them, and he should hang up his director's megaphone now.

I mean... I guess, if you'd never heard anything about what happened in Oklahoma, this movie could be interesting in the dramatization of history sort of way. But it's just a repetitive hammer to the head here: "humans are shitty. No, really really shitty." Okay, we get it. We actually got it already, before watching this. :-(

    2/5 stars. Overhyped.

EDIT: Am now browsing through "user reviews" on IMDB and lots of similar sentiments. "Killers of the Audience Bladders." Haha.
