I generally agree w/the exception of Marion, whose numbers are inflated by one great game vs. LTU on Saturday. I think Iverson should be brought back as the veteran type in 2008, he actually made me a fan of his. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/olympics/2004/writers/08/28/mccallum.ratings/index.html This also highlights another one of the problems with this team: putting LeBron and Carmelo on when they are young and not as good pretty much wastes the opportunity to use them in future games when they have matured and gotten better, if they go "one and done" like many other stars have. Imagine wasting Kevin Garnett in 1996 when he was still raw and young. If he hadn't come to Sydney in 2000, I'm not sure if we would have won the gold.
I don't think this year's players will go one-and-done like previous stars. Because we've gotten gold in previous games. This year's group has taken such a huge hit from the public, that they'll have extra incentive to prove the press wrong in 2008. Besides, based on what I've read and heard in interviews, the players in general wants to return. Lebron in particular looked like he enjoyed it, and would want to be in the Beijing games. As for the ratings, I don't think anyone deserves more than 2 rings. We're talking about a team that went 5-3. With no one who could consistently play well.
People must have read it else where, the problem was Le-Bronze James. Just don't pick that guy it will be fine.
