    Chevy Chase is just not funny. I’ll give him SNL though other than that, Ernest clears!! Kno wut I mean?

    A lot of comedy is generational and based on pop culture, so I agree in theory with you that most of the 70’s era SNL comedians aren’t that funny.

    However, CC’s humor is very much physical, which I consider timeless. Three Stooges is still hilarious.

    I think you can relate more to the vacation movies if you’re a middle aged dude trying to do right by his family. I have what we call ‘Clark’ moments sometimes, and several of the funniest have been on a ladder.

    Earnest, otoh, is very in-your-face blue collar humor. Some of it is pretty funny but I find a lot of it banal.
