Can you please refer me to the moping footage of his, I mean yeah he would not turn into Magic Johnson all of a sudden but he can change his attitude to being a professional. I hope it is just that one time and it is trivial. Whatever is wrong with his legs and his attitude have been the talking points why he dropped as a prospect to begin with.
To be fair, Jalen Green still doesn't have this down. Once Cam gets the opportunity I just hope he has cutting down pat, because he can get those KJ like actions any time with his athleticism.
I don’t have any evidence necessarily I’m just saying that if that’s why Ime isn’t playing him that only playing him in garbage minutes and GLeague stints won’t fix anything. I have no idea what he’s like in practice etc.
I can only think the Number one dilemma of all the young players is missing defensive assignments.......I think that is what annoys Udoka the most.... Secondly, the energy and effort level, when he always stresses that in interviews.....the level has to be better than that of the opponent. And frankly there is a hierarchy and for whatever reasons Jock Landale is still getting minutes. He prefers veterans over young players, the problem is those veterans are really just fringe level individuals. He knows Jabari and Green are high lotto picks and he would not bench them more than 1 or 2 games so Jabari and Jalen are practically high up in that hierarchy.
We dont need him to be Magic Johnson the playmaker we need him to do what he does best and that’s score in bunches. This team dropped 4+games because we couldn’t score. Having a scoring oven off the bench to spell you know who should have been experimented with already. these reporters need to start pressing Ime with this.
Jalen might actually be a heck of a spark plug/bench player like Malik Monk is for the Kings (did you see Malik's dunk today??) This will leave room for either Whitmore or Amen
It takes mental strength to accept one's role and it would probably take 1 or 2 years for his ego to come to terms with what you proposed.
I’ll take some alpha attitude with scoring ability instead of a beta b**** who can’t shoot like jalen
To be fair, he was playing with the bench unit in a blowout game. I doubt that he would get that many touches if he was in the starting lineup.
The coaching staff will need to be creative and find lineups/pairings that work best for Cam. That's what great coaches do. It will be difficult to find minutes if they are dead set on playing Tate (and apparently they are). If you are viewing Cam as a forward, how does he play in reserve lineups? Amen Holiday Tate / Bullock Eason Jabari / Landale Is Cam playing behind Tate and Bullock? However, if he can take a few minutes at the 2-guard, then the bench looks something like Amen/ Holiday Cam Tate / Bullock Eason Jabari / Landale It's still a pretty big numbers crunch. I hope his development isn't stuck until next season when we can clear more roster space.
Have you seen Melo son play? It's very self centered with a huge ego. Melo is just telling him to shoot and not pass
Good, that means he is not low IQ at least when it comes to reaction time and getting his head smashed. Dexter Dennis (No 17) who was following him is also one of the most explosive guys.....great duo.
His physical skills are amazing. Add some refinement and a team mentality, could be an all star. Jordan believed he could score on anybody, anytime. He was mostly right. Whitmore is not Jordan, but they both have a lot of "dog" in them.
Definitely this. Part of why Houston has been so much better this year is we arent rolling out 5 young guys still figuring it out - there is always a mix of vets with the younger players keeping structure and accountability That is why we have seen such a jump in the play of Alpi, Jabari, and Eason(and even Green in everything BUT scoring). It just becomes hard to find even more minutes for young guys when you have six such guys you are trying to squeeze in - Jalen, Jabari, Sengun, Eason, Amen, AND Cam. I would like to see Udoka experiment with Cam off the bench when the team is struggling offensively - see if he can become a bit of a spark plug off the bench
I can't put my finger on it yet, but Cam come off with vibes of a dude with an attitude/ego problem. Maybe this experience will humble him. Looking at our depth chart, only player I think he can steal minutes from is Tate.
In last night's postgame, Udoka did mention about a logjam in the wing positions . I think Cam will probably get some spot minutes just for the coaching staff to evaluate. He will need to show them he is capable of playing within the system. And more importantly, his defense will also be a big factor for him to get on the floor. The coach trusts Tate because Tate always puts in the effort on defense.
I didn't think he took a single poor shot .... they were either attacking the rim or open 3's within the flow of the offense. They were shots he should take. 2 steals in 14 minutes, can't complain about defensive effort.
