Yao and T-mac are very laid back dudes
JJ is pretty laid back too

Mo T or J Howard did not seem to be overly emotional

Who will be out EXCITEMENT/Emotional Leader on this team

    our SAM CASSELL
our Steve and Cuttino. . . .getting hyper

    Getting the crowd into it

    yadda yadda yadda

IS THIS . .. BOKI TIME?

I think the excitement will come with good plays and wins. Lets face it, the 'excitement' you say Steve and Cat brought didn't really propel us into dominance.
I think you're putting too much into this subjective factor.

It'll definitely be the fans this year. :D

Although reading all the Yao quotes from this summer, he seems much more assertive than even last season. Maybe he's starting to "get it".

I think Yao can put in some emotion in big games. He's done it much more in international competition, but I'm hoping it has more to do with familiarity and comfort than it does to giving the Rockets second fiddle.

Also, while he isn't a chest pounding, scream and shout person, Sura soulds like he'll be able to give some spark and energy off the bench. It's always nice to be able to bring in some effort guys to change the pace of the game.

And as the Spurs have shown over the past few years, you don't need a huge amount of outward emotion in order to succeed. Efficiency and proffessionalism can go a long way for teams too.

    like the Astros

    I like some excitement
Some nice moves. . some Highlights
    as
    much as folx hate ESPN
it is the HIGHLIGHTS that brought the nba from
Obscure sport like hockey to prominence

    For all the PROFESSIONALISM
spurs v Pistons is not the highest rated games
    I know I know
some folx may think that good basketball is good enough
    but
to the passing fan excitability is a big deal

I hate watching robots play basketball
the lack of excitement is killing the NFL

^ Well if you're looking for basketball excitement, I'm sure Tmac can give you all you're going to need. If you want a guy that beats his chest and shows off the tattoo over his heart, it's still not too late to do a K-Mart/Yao brain transplant.

Who is it on the Spurs? Ginobili and Parker? Not exactly the guys who come to mind when thinking excitement. TMac may be laid back off the court, but he's different on the court.

I don't think getting the crowd into it will be a problem. If/when TMac or Yao goes off for 40, the crowd will be into it.

C'mon now- Steve may have made some exciting plays, but TMac is an absolute highlight reel. Even looking at Yao in the Olympics, we may see some "tribal yells" after blocked shots and dunks. Crowds respond to great plays, and TMac and Yao make great plays.

just because t-mac is laid back... doesn't mean he doesn't get the fans on their feet ;)

TMac isn't as laid back as some of ya'll think. The guy lost 61 games last season, 19 in a row! I don't know how much excitement you want him to show in his situation.

You look at a team like Detroit, they were a pretty boring team to watch. But winning cures all.

Wins will get the crowd into games. The Lakers weren't exactly the most excitable team, but it seemed like it because they won. It doesn't matter who your emotional leader or "excitement guy" is as long as you win.

LAkers arent an exciting team? Kobe Bryant isnt exiting? Shaq?

They have Kobe making high-flying dunks & circus shots constantly. Then theres Shaq, the rim-rocker and board breaker.
If the Lakers arent an exciting team, then I dont know which teams are.

He never said that. He said, excitable. Meaning there were no guys on the lakers that really had a fiery, hyped personality that was infectious to the rest of the team.

I have to agree with him there. Whis Kobe and Shaq certainly made exciting plays, neither exactly had inspirational personalities.

With Tracy McGrady on your team, excitement probably shouldn't be an issue.

Bobby Sura gets pretty emotional on the court.. I haven't seen him much, maybe it was just the time I saw him.

MoT does it pretty well, I think he'll have a very good year. He's the longest-tenured ROcket now, so the crowd will be on his side, he'll know the system, and he can hopefully do a alot of cheerleading too.
