Just posting this reminder that this movie is out there. If you liked Crouching Tiger , you will love this movie. The story is actually much better though the evolution of the morality tale may be a little subtle for most Americans (but probably not for the intelligent folks that read these boards). The philosophy is actually quite profound.

But the real reason to see the movie is the utter awestriking beauty of it. I don't know much about art but I know what I like and every scene in this movie is absolutly beautiful. You've got the gold fight , the blue fight , the white fight and the green fight where the whole fight scene is composed in a particular color; the costumes, the sets, the backgrounds.

Just see it , you'll thank me.

I remember the red fight in the forest, the white fight in the desert and the blue fight on the lake. What the heck were the gold and green fight?

The green fight is the one that happened "3 years ago" between the King of Qin and the assassin. There are green silk drapes, banners, whatever in the throne room. That was a truly beautiful scene. Anybody that watched the bootleg dvds need to see it in theaters. It is absolutely awe-inspiring on the big screen.

Edit: Oh yeah, the gold fight was the fight in the forest too. It started out as gold leaves, and then turned to red towards the end. IIRC.

The whole first story was red. The red ink for the caligraphy, the red blacks for the soldiers, the red outfits by Broken Sword and Flying Snow (and Moon). The blood dripping down Broken Sword's foot and pooling on the floor.

The fight was Gold, but the first story was definitely red.

Great flick. I read a review where it said that the first half was swordplay, while the second half was wordplay. Interesting stuff. My wife and I discussed the color symbolism over dinner afterwards.

I'm sure you can get a copy of the DVD in some Asian Stores, like Viet Hoa or Hong KOng Market, not 100% sure, but my cuz who lives in H-town bought one over a year ago. He said he loved the flick! Personally, I haven't seen it yet, but I 'll try 2 see it this week!

I didn't like Hero at first, i thought it was too confusing and the gravity and fighting ability exaggeration was too much at first, but i watched it the second time and it is a pretty good movie and understandable but you do have to pay attention and use your brain. this movie not for ppl who like "road trip", "malibu most wanted" movies that do not require brain power and thoughtful thinking.

the scenes are so BEAUTIFUL, jumping and flying over water!! so artistic and fluid. I wouldn't mind being able to do that in real life!
    :D

my big complaint is they cut the movie time and left out some scenes from the original version. and what is this "Quentin Taratino Presents", they make it seem like Quentin Taratino made/ participated in this movie when he didn't do jack, trying to steal credit by doing nothing

This movie would not be playing in US theatres if Quentin Tarantino hadn't lobbied for it.

Good art requires the viewer to consider their own interpretation.

    (and it was purty!)

I almost didn't see this movie, since I've already seen it on VCDs. But it's a good thing my friends dragged me to the theater to watch it today. This is a movie that's *made* for the theater, as no TV can truly duplicate the effects of the big screen. Just simply an awesome experience.

hey you guys seen Infernal Affairs?

I heard Infernal Affairs(Hong Kong cop story) beat Hero in some award thing. Infernal Afffairs is pretty good, uncharacteristly good and unlame for a Hong Kong movie but I don't know why it beat Hero?

    :)

Yes! I seen Infernal Affairs, it has Infernal Affairs 1, 2, and 3. I seen all of them, I really like the first one and the second one, but the story is very twist(don't know how to express what i mean), when you watch the movie, you really have to think about it, and analysis it, just like hero, for some people, it would be hard for them to understand what the movie is about, for some other, they like it when movie is make this way.

Overall, I like Infernal Affair 1 and Infernal Affair 2 a lot, I like it when the movie story challenge you to think, and the end is very exciting and twist.

And yes, Infernal Affair is a box office heat in China, and Asia too.
