Netflix dropped the first teaser poster for the much-anticipated Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F yesterday, and now we’ve got our first look at Eddie Murphy back in action in the first teaser trailer for the Netflix movie. Nearly thirty years after the release of the last movie, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will find Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) back on the beat in Beverly Hills. The official synopsis reads: “After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.” The film also stars Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot, and Kevin Bacon. Mark Molloy directed the Beverly Hills Cop sequel from a screenplay by Will Beall and Tom Gormican & Kevin Etten. “Eddie’s such an incredible artist,” said producer Jerry Bruckheimer. “He can do drama, he can do comedy – he can do anything. And he’s the same Axel Foley. He’s still on the streets. He’s still doing what he does. Obviously with age you get wiser. But he still has the twinkle in his eye.” Mark Molloy added, “Some of the funniest moments in Axel F are when Eddie’s doing improvising. For me, a big part of my job was to create the right environment [and] cast the right people around Eddie to allow him to do what he does best.“ Given the bad taste that Beverly Hills Cop 3 left in the mouths of fans three decades ago, I can only hope that Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will be a welcome return to form. Considering the amount of time which has passed since Eddie Murphy last suited up as Axel Foley, it’s no surprise that he can’t handle the action as well as he used to. “When I was on the set, we kept having that experience,” Murphy explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “There was a scene where they wanted me to run down these steps; it was outside, these cement steps. After I did it, the director said, ‘Can you come down faster with more of a sense of urgency?’ And I was like, ‘No, I can’t!’ I had to tell everybody, ‘Listen, I know I still look like Axel Foley but don’t ask me to do nothin’ you won’t ask Morgan Freeman to do.’“ https://www.joblo.com/beverly-hills-cop-axel-f-trailer/
The action scenes looks practical enough. Still can't see it cause netflix is azz anyways. If this was sent to a theater then a maybe. Pass
As a kid I've probably watched this opening and chase scene a million times. An absolute banger, netflix can suck rocks!
Yeah, doesn't look too funny. I'm not so sure the first was as good as I remember, either. Of course, I'm still going to watch it.
Eddie ruined Coming to America so he'll probably ruin this one too. But the trailer looks kind of good. I'll watch, but my expectations are low.
I believe you are thinking of Police Academy. Beverly Hills Cop was about a cop from Detroit going to Beverly Hills to solve his friend's murder and dealing with all of their by the book and fancy issues.
I'll see you'll at the theater. Where's my cane? Is it time to go now? Just let me know when. And, bring me a popcorn. Why isn't this car moving? Who's driving this thing?
I'll watch. But unfortunately have little hope it will be good. Eddie just seemed to have lost "it." But I do quote that movie often. Foley: "Get the **** out of here" Serge: "No I cannotttt I have to worrrk"
Will be interesting to see if white-bread old "Norbit/Daddy Day Care" Eddie Murphy can still channel young edgy foul-mouthed "Raw" Eddie Murphy. It almost feels like it's two different people.
