Maybe we can trade for him to be our starting Center. I hear he is a great lob threat .

Ime must've been all up in his ass about playing soft, and he responded. You love to see it.

Jabari could defend if he plays with Miles Turner....

We'll see. At this point, I'm expecting both to receive rookie max extensions. After that, it's impossible to predict. Happy we have both, though, and hope they are our frontcourt for the next decade plus.

Great for him to break a ceiling and hopefully it inspires him to rebound a little better. Would be very happy with over 9.5 rebounds and 2 stocks per game to end the season.

Most importantly get this man some more shots. We can take some pressure off FVV/Green whose 2P% is killing us sometimes. It's good to see we can develop him slowly and patiently now, we'll have a great product by the end of the season and he'll still be what 21 years old or something lol.

Jabari is on pace to have a Marvin Bagley type career.

Bagley has better numbers in 2 years but that's his level he's compared to. Top draft pick.

Marvin Bagley sucks. Never been a constant starter, constantly on the injury list. Him and Bari aren't even comparable. a bonafied bust who is now a journey man and will be a bench player for the rest of his career who can't shoot. he stinks defensively too and is closer to C wood than Bari.

Bari will be a starter for his career making a ton of money as a two way player

terrible attempt at a random correlation and nobody relevant compares Bari to Bagley's sorry ass level

Come back to this post in a few years. For now, all I hear is guys hyping a 3rd pick who plays like a 2nd round talent.

I don't need to. He's already passed him up in year 2 and it's only a quarter of the season that's gone on. you need a few years because that's all you can hope for to tell yourself to be wrong bc it looks so foolish right now

All i see is your ridiculous hate and laughable comparison on a talented two way player who continues to make significant strides in year 2 at 20. Bari is one of the last players on this team you should be bitter about. He's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing and more

it's just more of the same with classic CF's hot takes.

"plays like a 2nd round talent": Who on this list of 2nd round draft picks of his class has overshadowed Bari. Oh not even close to anyone. that was easy. but but but wait a few years

    2nd Round:
    31. Pacers draft Andrew Nembhard (Gonzaga)

    32. Magic draft Caleb Houstan (Michigan)

    33. Raptors draft Christian Koloko (Arizona)

    34. Thunder draft Jaylin Williams (Arkansas)

    35. Lakers draft Max Christie (Michigan State)

    36. Blazers draft Gabriele Procida (Fortitudo Bologna) — Traded to DET

    37. Kings draft Jaden Hardy (G League Ignite) — Traded to DAL

    38. Spurs draft Kennedy Chandler (Tennessee) — Traded to MEM

    39. Cavaliers draft Khalifa Diop (Gran Canaria)

    40. Timberwolves draft Bryce McGowens (Nebraska) — Traded to CHA

    41. Pelicans draft EJ Liddell (Ohio State)

    42. Knicks draft Trevor Keels (Duke)

    43. Clippers draft Moussa Diabate (Michigan)

    44. Hawks draft Ryan Rollins (Toldeo) — Traded to GSW

    45. Hornets draft Josh Minott (Memphis) — Traded to MIN

    46. Pistons draft Ismael Kamagate (Paris Basketball) — Traded to POR

    47. Grizzlies draft Vince Williams Jr. (VCU)

    48. Timberwolves draft Kendall Brown (Baylor) — Traded to IND

    49. Cavaliers draft Isaiah Mobley (USC)

    50. Timberwolves draft Matteo Spagnolo (Vanoli Cremona)

    51. Warriors draft Tyrese Martin (UConn) — Traded to ATL

    52. Pelicans draft Karlo Matković (Mega Mozzart)

    53. Celtics draft JD Davison (Alabama)

why come back in a few years, why not come back now. Jabari is now shooting like 37% from 3 this season with 60% TS, playing hard on D and grabbing boards. He's still quite far away offensively in terms of creating his own shot, but he's playing within a system that is winning games.

Isn't Victor Wembenyama the only player in the NBA younger than Jabari to be scoring more ppg than Jabari?

I don't think Smith is being asked to create his own shot at the moment. He is young, and being asked to make contributions and play off the ball.
And he is still scoring more PPG than anyone his own age or younger...

This is one of the silliest things I’ve ever read on this board. Smith is only 20 and probably starts for virtually ever team. Every team needs a lengthy forward who plays great D and shoots the 3 ball well. Even if he doesn’t progress much, he’s going to make a ton of money and play for a long time.

Jabari's overwhelming presence on the court disrupts the league's competitive balance when he is tasked with creating his own scoring opportunities. His size and the challenge he poses to defenders suggest that a level of production comparable to a postmodern KD is within the realm of possibility.

    That's a bad comp.

Bagley might be China-bound in a year or two. His skill set and mentality combination don't promote winning.

If you're going to use a #2 pick named Marvin as a comp to Jabari, at worst it's Marvin Williams. Who had a winning 3&D mold as player, hosted a 15 year career, contributed to a number of playoff teams. Was he anything more than a role player? No, but he wasn't a losing player like Bagley.

That seems like a pretty conservative projection for Jabari's career.

Jabari is definitely looking like a keeper.

When you go back and see the history of draft classes and which players selected in which pick order had the most impact, it’s all over the place. Guys with the most impact don’t necessarily fall in line with the slot they were selected; it’s quite surprising to say the least.

A player selected # 3 just needs to be at least a solid starter / core piece. They don’t have to be an all-star, if they buy into the team first mentality.

Jabari is going to be an excellent to elite 3-point shooter. He’s showing he has a knack for wanting to get rebounds. He is putting a lot of effort into trying to be a better to elite defender. The hiccup in his game is he can’t naturally create his own shot.

But he is quietly turning into the player many of us envisioned when he got drafted. A 3 and D elite player.

I also would like to see him more involved in the offense. I thought he got the ball in his spots a couple of times last game and was a little too passive, not confident enough. I want at least 4-5 midrange turnarounds a game, and 4-5 3s.
