The fiancee and I are wanting to grab a late breakfast this morning. Brasil, 59 Diner, and La Tapatia are our usual hangouts, but I want something different this morning. Give me some suggestions! We're in the Montrose/River Oaks area. Gracias.
Whataburger's got some kick-ass Taquito's for another 30 minutes. Seriously, I dunno. Now for lunch, y'all could go to TMC for $9 Steak and Seafood all you can eat buffet.
There's a brand new place on Washington called the Daily Grind. It is between Shepherd and Heights and sounds great. Individually owned. Gourmet coffee, from scratch, all-day omlets and hand made pastries. Mrs JB are planning on trying it first chance we get.
Waffle House . . . Breakfast any time . . . and the Pecan Waffle is the greatest waffle in history. Have some grits and coffee.
Actually, I remember a review on The Breakfast Klub in Midtown. I know it sounds odd, but they had rave reviews on their "Chicken and Waffles", as well as their "Catfish and Grits". If y'all are adventurous, maybe there?
FFB, thanks for the suggestion. We actually want to try that place, but she has to go out to the Katy area for work after we eat, so The Daily Grind is kinda on the way out for her.
There's a place called Tel-Wink, on the corner of Telephone & Winkler off 45 South. Looks like an old time diner that should be located off a highway somewhere full of truck drivers and nervous families, but it's great, best breakfast I've ever had. And anyone I take there becomes an instant fan. Has anyone else ever heard about it? AC
oh god, are you kidding? Me and the wife went to Creiscent City Beignets a couple months ago. We ordered one beignet to share, and both of us though we were going to have heart attacks on the way out.
Eh, it was alright. I really dug their coffee, though. The omlette I got was a little runny, but it was decent. I didn't like the fact that there were no menus, especially since the lady taking our order didn't really seem to know the menu all that well. The fiancee really liked her eggs and hash browns though and said, "this blueberry muffin is orgasmic". Kinda made me feel inadequate, but hey, as long as she's satisified. We'll probably try it again.
You've got to be kidding! Mama's on Westheimer near Greenridge next to Texadelphia and open 24/7. I highly suggest you try it after a gig.
Actually, it's not 24/7, but close! They close at 4a Thursday-Sunday, but obviously stay open until everyone is gone. I like most of the items on their menu. One of the better 'home-cooked country-style' restaurants in town.
