Would you take a 2 loss UH team on a consistent basis. He did great things at Tulane, where winning is next to impossible.
I think people are too stuck on it took 7 yrs for him to build Tulane and not realizing how god awful they were when he got there in the first place.
Lmao. I was waiting to hear this from Tulane fans. It annoyed me when our own said this about Sumlin, and it's dumb hearing it from Tulane people now. SMU is a good football team. Give them some credit. Players aren't that emotionally fragile lol.
I didn't realize it at the time, but I while I was at UH, we had great stability with Guy Lewis in BB and Bill Yeoman who were both innovative and fixtures there.
It is above my pay grade but I was hoping for the next Rhett Lashlee. Someone maybe not on the radar of retreaded coaches encompassed by our shortlist. Like I posted earlier we need to get this one right. Even if we choose someone that is poached 5 years down the road. At least if he is poached it means our football program is successful and has started winning again. Regardless of who the next coach is, I will still root for the team to win. Just like I did with the last two losers we had as head coaches. Like Donny Most posted earlier we should have hired him back in 2016. If Willie Fritz is the next coach of the Houston Cougars, only time will tell if we get it right. If not we have some more frustrating years ahead for the football program.
When I attended UH between 76 and 80 as a new member of the SWC under Bill Yeoman we won the conference 3 out of 4 years. Highlighted by a road game I attended where we beat the snot out of the Longhorns 30-0. Lots of great memories back then but that was my favorite.
I was there Fall 76 to Spring 78 on campus and in the Cougar Guard. I discovered I needed sleep. I also found myself taking the route from the Medical Center area (I worked at the Warwick) back to the UH campus Friday. Other than the fountain on Fannin and the street names, I recognized ABSOLUTELY NOTHING as I tried to find my way onto a freeway on ramp. I think The Warwick was given a face lift and is now Hotel ZZ or some such nonsense.
Wondering if Frenchy's is still on Scott street. When I went there it was an old white shack. Still had people lined up late into the night for their amazing fried chicken. Surely if still there they have a new building by now.
Tulane coach Willie Fritz disputes reports he already has reached an agreement with Houston https://www.nola.com/sports/tulane/...cle_aac4fb16-917f-11ee-ad2c-e7339e2b1c3f.html
Fresh start. I think it’ll be a good hire to set the new standard for the next couple of years. that’s the biggest thing right now to continue to move forward in the big12
They moved to the corner of Scott and Alabama St. behind Yates HS. It's ok, but not as good as it used to be imo
