Congratulations to them, glad they won, but.......

Is anybody sick of these chicks yet?

We've been seeing the same damned stories and hearing the same stuff from and about Hamm (who, I'm sorry, is not that hot -- do better, nomar) Foudy, Chastain, Lilly & the rest for like 5 whole years now. I'm sorry, but these chicks have had their 15 minutes. Yes, I know, they "revolutionized girls sports"; I knew that several years ago. Hell, I'm already sick of Paul Hamm, not to mention Mia.

sorry, just had to act like an old man for a bit there and say that.

Yea, I'm sick of them too. I'm sick of woman's sport in general. Title IX is a sham.

If they really wanted to make it equal why don't they allow men and women to compete together and see who ends up winning. That is the only way to improve woman's sports.

    A young man's opinion...

While you're at it, why don't you just play some Little League Football. Bet you can whup-up on some 10 year-olds. Or why not just compete in the Special Olympics?

    Apparently.

Why do you even pay attention if you don't like them so much?

As for Title IX, oh, boo hoo. Given that public schools are funded with tax dollars and over half of the adult population in America is made up of the female gender, I can't imagine why anyone would complain.

Poor men. Can only afford the $2000 whirpool tub instead of the $5000 model. What a shame. If you really want to b****, try complaining when the English department is losing faculty to budget cuts even as the university is building a brand new training facility for athletes.

    No.

And it's been about 13 years, not 5.

Why not congratulate today's gold medalists like Shaun Crawford, Dwayne Phillips, or even Dominican hurdler Felix Sanchez. Or even Moroccan Hiccham El-Guerrouj after his heroic victory in the 1500 the other day.

If they want to play up the female angle, then what about the Women's water polo team? They only won bronze, but still.

These people work just as hard, have stories that are just as interesting, if not more so, and haven't been paraded around for the last few years ad aren't as hackneyed, and are also medalists.

Enough with the soccer girls. They're good, ok. Now let's let the atheletes in Track and other sports that toil in obscurity for 4 years get some play.

I am proud of them, and they sang the heck out of our National Anthem.

Bottom line: women's athletics is an inferior product. If I wanted to see an inferior product I would watch minor league baseball or err.. college basketball.

If you dont believe this you must think ignorance is a virtue.

Inferior products are not to be paraded around like champions..

They're women, not girls. And I am not sure why I'd be more proud of a dominican or moroccan than our women's soccer team that won the gold. Considering they've come back to whup up on the germans, who they lost to in the last world championships, I think its quite a feat. And that its the swan song on at least five of these women who have given YEARS of their lives representing our country, its a damn shame that you guys would be dissin' them.

As for Title IX, what does that have to do with the OLYMPIC TEAM?

Jeff, you are right on about this one.

    How shallow you are.

Is it all about physical look(s)? How old are you if you don't mind?

Talking about looks, I don't know why any man/woman would have interest in you.

OK, I think she has a boring personality too.

I know this because she has been overexposed because of the media anointed significance of the US womens soccer team, which apparently is the genesis of womens sports in America.

Just because you don't like something, it doesnt mean you shouldn't pay attention or be aware of what is going on. I may not like certain figures in government or certain policies but that doesnt mean I should keep myself in a blissful nirvana all day long. Thinking like that breeds ignorance and we certainly don't need more of that here.

    Have a good day.

I'm definitely one of those who are sick of them. Mainly because there are fresher stories to tell. The Olympics is such an unique event in the sense that there are so many athletes who only gets to shine for one or two nights every four years. Why rehash a 5 year old story when you can introduce fresh new stars who are probably more deserving of their 15 minutes of fame?

You are comparing two totally separate things and is a shameful argument. Little league football, and special olympics participants are not so called "professional athletes."

But female Olympic athletes are called "professional athletes."
But they in no way compete in the same playing field as men, in any sport. Period.

Why is it, we have to separate the men and women in sports. In every other field of life, men and women compete together. Whether it be academics, job/career, music/entertainment....life in general.

Why the double standard for sports?

Women's sports in general are a lark. I'd like to see great women tennis players like Sharapova, Williams, and Davenport face great male tennis stars in their primes like Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors and Billy Jeane King.

well...the US women soccer team was lucky enough to win the game against the Brazilians yesterday...from the looks of it looks like Brazil will have a chance to takeover the Americans in women soccer

One, title 9 has nothing to do with professional atheltes.

Two, female Olympians are not professional athletes.

Three, why is it that we have different weight classes in boxing and weight lifting, in other sports like gymnastics, basketball, and running, we make the tall, short and fat compete together
