Spoiler And Summer is over. Winter is coming I think he is right in terms of money, but I think it shouldn't be just Ukarine fighting. It should all the West against Russia. Russia has been destabilizing the West for years now fighting in the shadows. Russia is the enemy, we should not let Ukraine fight alone.
Unfortunately, the GOP is now preventing the US from going all-in by refusing to fund an all-in approach.
Do we have the supply chain to go all in? Folks have been acting like we're throwing away hand me down clothes and long range used toys for more than a year now while Ukrainians burn through their stocks like crazy. All i know is that we didn't happen to authorize giving them cluster bombs for no good reason...
Also as been shown with the F16’s and other weapon systems we can’t just hand them the weapons and they deploy them rapidly to the battlefield. The Ukrainian military was trained on Soviet systems it takes a lot of time to adequately train them to use US systems.
incrementalism kills. I've been saying so for a long time; feel free to use the handy search function for this thread.
which is why we should never have prevaricated on the issue of F16s. they're getting them now (training just underway), but what if they'd been approved a year earlier?
It wasn’t just incrementalism but at the beginning of the war it was felt it would be better to give them MiGs from other NATO countries and then give those countries F16s
I propose you use the handy search function, and see how long we've been discussing F16s in this thread. if training had started back then, Ukraine would have had them for their latest offensive.
I think we train a select number for vehicles even before our box of goodwill hits their border. The maintenance and upkeep though... Their biggest wishlist is long range weapons that we previously didn't anticipate supplying for the long term but are now reaching critical capacity as Taiwan and Ukraine have particular needs for it.
