You actually see it a lot. Every year in fact. You do know how the draft process works right? The bad teams get the top picks. You do know this right?
Well, Houston is an up tier market, no matter how bad the owner is but the market dictates certain things like ambition..... Houston is not some place at the end of the US..... I have no worries that they will make sure that they are not bad for longer than 4-5 years. The question begs if you are mediocre, better than mediocre or a contender. And back at you, nope, they decided to tank for 3 years until they could not tank no more, and nope Green and Bari were still not ready at the end of the last year. Both KPJ and Green put up a lot of big numbers but I have no doubt at least that KPJ's numbers were inflated.....and Green's numbers were not far behind.
I'm still figuring out if people saying if someone has the dawg in them or not is a meme they are making fun of or sincerely think like that. Like I feel like the only people who say that stuff like that have father abandonment issues.
Jalen Green is averaging 23, 4, and 4 in his last 5 games on 49/34/88 splits on the season, he is at 20, 4, and 3 on 43/36/79 splits and 56% TS…mind u, we are not even 20 games into year 3, and he is playing for a real coach and in a real system for the 1st time in his life but here y’all come talking about “trade him” or “bench him” According to y’all Green is so trash and such a disappointment, so what are y’all trading him for? A middling 1st round pick? Because dumb sh*t like “Green for LaMelo Ball, would ya?” is not a thing in real life
Keep in mind those offensive numbers are also with Green expending a lot more energy on defense and actually being a consistent good defender(still random lapses here but that's reasonable)
Just move on....lol. Green is one of the most boring topics on this board.. whether it is maxxing him or trading him....
Good points. I was hard on Jalen after the Mavs game but his game against the Nuggets regained my confidence. Just gonna wait until after thr season and see where he's at. I want him to be more aggressive and perhaps his playmaking is underrated.
armchair psychology is overrated. I couldn't care less if its extrinsic, intrinsic. He needs some consistent 2-3 go to scoring moves like every other good shooting guards in the league. He's still freestyling a lot out there, which is why you really don't know if he's going to get hot or lay a goose egg on any given night. He hit a lot of 3's last night which is why he was ultra efficient, but can we expect or depend on that on a nightly basis? I think HeyPartner made a good point, you need to find your most consistent scoring spots and be automatic from there. Green can get to a lot of spots, he just can't finish those consistently to be a dependable player.
Rockets should put together a package for J. Green and then send Jeff and imagine the surprise when he meets them at the airport lololol
The fan opinion of Jalen Green is very interesting to me. First, I think that some people had unrealistic expectations and expected he would be Jordan or Kobe or Harden or Wade. He was never going to be one of those players, he isn't physically built like any of them. When he was drafted, reasonable expectations around the league were that Green had a chance to be an all-star shooting guard someday. No - Jalen Green hasn't busted out, but he has improved and he continues to improve with a fairly high ceiling as well. He has been asked to change his game more than any other Rocket. Under Silas he really didn't have to do anything except score. He didn't have to defend, or even pass. Now - Udoka is expecting him to defend, to move without the ball, to know where to be on the court, to shoot from the outside and to make the proper reads. I expected there to be resistance from Green - most scorers don't want to change their game, usually they have to fail at scoring and modify their game. To the credit of Green, he bought in right away - and at this point it is a matter of Udoka getting him to keep doing the new things he is doing and also getting him aggressive. Also - I have said Jabari Smith has taken a big step forward this season, and he really has - but keep in mind, Jabari is operating as a role player on the offensive end. That is a lot easier than what Green is expected to do on the offensive side of the ball. Green will be fine and will score well for the Rockets going forward. I don't think he will be a superstar, but I do think he is going to be a 22-27 point a game scorer for a number of years - a better version of Jamal Murray (from an impact stand point).
No matter how hard the SOFs try to get Jalen off this team... it won't work. Tell me, SOFs. Didn't Jalen outclass your bum foreigner today by scoring more points and assists than him? Who is the better one now? Do you see it yet?
