hell yeah. your curse derails careers. just leave Cam alone, please. think of the children. stan in silence. for the culture. for the future of the rockets.
I have no curse - plenty of my favorites have been great. Only the feeble minded believe in curses. DD
There is so much talk here about Cam's passing. I don't think that's the biggest question mark for him on offense. IMO, the issue is can he play off the ball as the 3rd or 4th option and still contribute enough to be on the floor. Can he move without the ball and get open? Can he set picks, hit set-shot 3s, keep the ball moving and, of course, hit the open man? We aren't talking about Allen Iverson. I'm not yet convinced Cam is going to be an elite creator in the NBA.
I know it looks like they are playing him at PG, which is strange, maybe grooming him to be the 6th man when FVV is on the bench? DD
Cam's nature just doesn't strike me as one of a facilitator. His instincts are to figure out a way to get off a shot. If he successfully transforms himself, I'll give huge props to him and the Rockets.
From the G-League games I've watched of his, he's actually better at passing than I expected, but again ... G-League defense, too. There were a couple of times he tried to thread the needle that didn't work. I don't know if he even attempts those passes in the NBA or he does attempt them and turn the ball over? He's also not facing the ball pressure he was in the NBA. In the NBA, when he drove to the basket, his dribble wasn't as "sure" because he was trying to protect the ball, and he turned it over. I kind of agree with you whether or not that's the biggest question for him on offense, but still disagree. His ability and willingness to pass are going to be important in the Rockets' offense and to Ime. If he's not willing to pass, I don't think he's getting PT. I haven't seen that as a problem so far in the G-League. His ability to pass has been somewhat shocking to me. I don't know if he'd be able to get a lot of those passes he attempts in the G-League off or complete them in the NBA, but even his attempts are somewhat shocking to me. The other thing that's noticeable in the G-League games is them letting him bring the ball up and just initiate. Sometimes he just brings it up and takes it to the straight to the hole and tries to throw it down on somebody. Other times he just passes the ball off to another guard or someone else. He's not really a PG in that sense (Lecque usually fills that role), but he is a focus of the offense for sure, which is expected down there, I guess. One thing is certain - he's got the green light down there to jack up shots. He's attempting almost 18 shots a game down there and almost 10 of them are 3's. He won't be doing that anytime soon in the NBA, but he looks good shooting the 3, which is the other thing that's surprising to me since he's not known for shooting 3's - he was putrid before the G-League. I really don't care about the simple counting stats like ppg, rebs, etc since it's the G-League and we've had several players down there that looked like legends-in-the-making that turn out to be meh. Hell, Trevelin Queen was arguably the best player on the court in their 2 games against the Vipers (putting up 35 ppg or so), and he can't stick on a team or in the League. There is one thing about what you said of him being a facilitator. He's showing he can facilitate in these games, even if he's not a facilitator. The only downside of this I've seen is that when the ball isn't in his hands, he's usually standing in the corner or away from the ball, sometimes not even watching the play and what's transpiring. I don't know if he's being a decoy, taking a breather from carrying an offensive load, or just acting like "well, I'm not getting the ball on this play, so I'm just gonna chill". lol. Seriously, I have no idea. Could be nothing. You also have to consider he's made a couple of really bad quarter-ending/game-ending decisions with regards to clock management, which is not something I want someone handling the ball a lot to be doing. Still, I'm pleasantly surprised about his use as a ballhandler so far. Let's see it in the NBA, too, now.
This. Im really fine with him getting 18 minutes at the expense of a few from everyone in the current rotation 1-3.
He looks good, and confident, and forceful, and he is a legit 6'7"......it would be amazing to see Cam, Tari, Brooks, Bari and Sengun as a group.....no one would score anything against them. DD
If Cam is a legit 6'7 then how tall is Amen exactly? Still so stoked that these two get to develop and blossom under Udoka's tutelage.
