July 31, 2001 Rockets Won't Match Toronto's Offer Vince Carter Reveals Dream's Plan By TRG Vince Carter could be a free agent next summer and play the Webber/Olajuwon game, but instead he is willing to commit to a six-year extension on Wednesday. This is a pretty good indication of Hakeem's plan. Hakeem has been talking to Vince on the phone about the possibility of them playing together and what it would mean for the team and the city of Toronto. It looks like that dream will now be a reality. The Rockets cannot or will not match the Raptors' offer. Team officials told us what was already thought to be true, which is that if they try to sing Hakeem for the amount he wants they will have to sacrifice one of the essential pieces of their rebuilding puzzle. This may well be a shock to Hakeem. I don't think he had any intention of really playing in Toronto. He was making all that noise about the Raptors to get Houston to offer more money. Now that they aren't, Hakeem will have to put his signature where his mouth is. He has to sign in Toronto or else he will prove all his talk about not giving Houston a home town discount was just bluff. I'm not so sure it is true that the Rockets CAN'T offer Hakeem more, but it has been the team's stance since negotiations began. I think the Rockets are trying to make it look like they are trying hard to keep him, but have a better plan in mind that will take shape after he leaves. This is based on my assessment of what Mo, Moochie, and Shandon are worth. Mo is worth about $7 million, Moochie probably $2 or $3 million, and Shandon will get at least $5 million, though he's not yet proven to me he's worth it. Moochie and Shandon have Early Bird Rights, which helps the cap situation. I'll be doing a more in depth look at the cap as soon as the Rockets renounce Hakeem. ------------------ Keep Mo Ta & now we have Ta Mo
How does the Rocket Guy know that Dream talked to Vince on the cell? ------------------ There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.

But more importantly, if the tree fell and nobody was there to hear it, was there really sound? ------------------ There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.
Also if a tree were to fall on TRG, what kind of tree would it be? Hmmmm. ------------------ "We need to FOCASS".... Akeem Olajuwon
TRG makes stuff up. He takes tidbits of information and immediately posts them with fanciful tales built around them like sugar castles on clouds of cotton candy encircled by moats of Starbuck's Mocha. Passion for the team, he has. Now if he just had a whiff of brainpower... ------------------
More importantly...if a tree fell on TRG, and noone was there to see it..would anyone care if it didn't make a sound?? ------------------ This space for rent
But, if a tree fell on TRG, no one would be see it because no one would be there therefore no one would even think about caring or not. ------------------ Long Live The Catomic Bomb. DON'T TRADE DOTEL!

ouch, you folks are harsh...nothing hath more fury than a sports fan scorned, or something like that. I don't know who this TRG person or his history here, but does he get any partial credit for having legit info, as oeilpere (sp?) verified (and extended - thanks) ------------------
I'll be doing a more in depth look at the cap as soon as the Rockets renounce Hakeem. This should be interesting. ------------------
