that trailer looks brilliant, but i agree, the CGI water creatures are not his style, still waiting patiently for this flik
I watched Rushmore last night... damn that movie is flippin' genius! I also forgot about all the aquariams Ms. Cross had in her class room. Here's a couple of related things on the web http://www.wesanderson.org/ http://p210.ezboard.com/byankeeracers33503
Rushmore is one of the handful of movies that I paid to watch more than once at the theaters; just a brilliant, hysterical, heartbreaking film. It also has a fantastic soundtrack.
I think most of Wes' movies have amazing soundtracks. That guy has a perfect knack for picking the right music to fit his movies. I hope his movies just get better and better...
since everybody seems to love all his movies...i'll play devil's advocate. the movie looks pretty dumb in the trailer in all honesty. i mite see it...unsure. loved rushmore, hated royal tenenbaums. and on top of all that, i must be the only person that didn't like garden state??? thought it was kinda pointless and unfunny. napoleon dynamite, however, was brilliant!
all the soundracks are done by Mark Mothersbaugh (the lead singer/dude with the glasses in DEVO.) brilliant! www.mutato.com
Official Movie Website!! http://lifeaquatic.movies.go.com/main.html Check it all out, very good site. Be sure to click on Team Zissou once you get past the main page, each featured character has little movie snippets and other stuff on their respective page! The site even has the 'dance' theme music.... way cool!!
I've loved them all from Bottlerocket to Royal Tennenbaums. I was also a fan of Kicking and Screaming. It will be interesting to see an Anderson/Baumbach flick. I'm glad that Owen Wilson is in it. I almost always think he's hilarious. I'm not sure about the CGI stuff, but if that is what it took simply because of the subject matter of the film, I can forgive it. I love the idea behind the movie. It is very creative, and a great springboard to base a film off of.
We've talked about this movie and posted the trailer before, haven't we? Anyways, I can't wait to see it. Check out the Zissou archive to see a scene from the movie with a kind of alternate trailer featuring Rebel Rebel by David Bowie.
uh... yeah, this is that thread, I brought it back because the official website is up with content, previously it was just a trailer, now it's a full-scale site with tons of stuff!!! Very cool!
Every one of his films has been fantastic, Wes Anderson is simply a genius. One thing I noticed is Kumar isn't listed in the credits for this one and that makes me sad. I hope he'll at least make a cameo appearance somewhere in it though.
For some reason, the main site doesn't have the newest webisodes. These came out on Nov. 22, but I haven't checked the quicktime site in a few weeks. Anyways, they are 2 hilarious clips from the movie which then turn into trailers. Can somebody tell me the song they are using? http://www.apple.com/trailers/touchstone/the_life_aquatic/webisodes/ "We're being led on an illegal suicide mission by a selfish maniac." "I hear what you're saying, but I think you misjudge the guy." "SteveZ, I think the crew might be ready to mutiny." "Oh man, what a drag."
Sorry the mutiny clip is using David Bowie's 'Queen b****' The one I saw in the movie theater was using the Devo song.
Thanks for posting the new webisodes... I didn't realize they were out yet. Each of them left me laughing, so I think that's a good sign... I hope you guys are as psyched as I am for this film. Myself and three of my college roommates are traveling great lengths across the country from our current cities of residence to see this movie together in St. Louis. It's a tradition I hope to continue every three years! 1995 - Bottle Rocket 1998 - Rushmore 2001 - The Royal Tenenbaums 2004 - The Life Aquatic 2007 - ???
Kumar was freakin great in Terminal. but the movie was by the most part dissapointing. I love Wes Anderson's work. and P.T. Anderson for that matter
