What Current Players have you Frequently Criticized, But Hope Your Wrong About?

Of all the players, you pick the worst?...

 

Oh ok.. I get it.. Well I'd pick Tate and his whining.. I don't know why it irritates me more than his actual play.. With that said, when he comes into the game, I expect turnovers and bricks between the positive hustle plays..

 

Sengun, Jalen Green, Van Vleet, Brooks, Jabari Smith, Landale, and pretty much every other Rockets player... I've criticized them all at different times. Happy to be 'wrong'.

The weirdness happening on CFs (and the internet in general) for the last 10 years is that idea that criticism is toxic. A very emotionally underdeveloped and - toxic - viewpoint.

 

1) Sengun - didn't think his archetype could work in the NBA but Ime is showing that you can mitigate their shortcomings when you don't constantly make them do things they're not great at. I'm already wrong here.

2) Tari - I'm admittedly a lot lower on Tari than most. He's like Tate with no real rim awareness. He's better at steals which is a plus but I don't see him developing into much more than he is right now. Hope I'm wrong.

3) Jalen - The best ability is availability (check). The next best ability is consistency (doh!). Jalen when he's on is a Top 10 player in the league like....today. Jalen when he's not on is a losing basketball player due to gifting the other team points via turnovers or defensive lapses. The kid is Jekyll and Hyde in basketball form. I still think Jalen will ultimately become a good player but not a consistent Top 10 player. Like a Jamal Murray. Hope I'm wrong because Jalen is physically more talented than every single contemporary he has including Anthony Edwards. He is the most gifted SG prospect in the league. Even Lavine doesn't have his blend of hops and speed.

The only player (ex) I frequently criticized was KPJ. And I don’t hope I’m wrong.

 

I WAS wrong about Dillon Brooks. I HOPE I am wrong about Jalen. He’s the highest pick the org has drafted since Yao. He was completely mismanaged and put in a terrible development situation the last 2 yrs. While he’s a frustrating player to watch and has significant shortcomings to his game, I’m very eager to see if Ime can help him take a big step. A lot riding on Jalen’s performance this year.

 

Self reflection is paramount.....goes for everyone.
