Keep moving the goalposts, he is inevitable. Pretty soon your goalpost will be on my side of the field, and you will be saying: “He hasn’t won a ring yet!!!”
He is excellent offensively. He is an elite post up player and passer, the rockets are basically going through him when they are the most effective. He is averaging 20 points (on good FG%) and 6 assists per game as a center, who are you trying to fool? He has slightly better stats than Nikola Jokic at the same age and also Embiid. Mention 3 players the same age or younger that are more dominant than what Sengun is now.
The biggest difference this year is that Sengun has been extremely consistent. That's a sign for becoming a cornerstone kind of player. In the past two seasons, you can see flashes but he's inconsistent. It didn't help that he wasn't used right by the coaching. Anyone who has some talent can have a great game in the NBA. The question is, how frequently can he do it? Sengun has shown that he can do it night in and night out (insert Drexler's voice).
Mention 3 players that are Sengun's age that are better than him, it should not be so hard. Scola comment is obviously just a troll comment, Scola was a bench player for Tau Ceramica when he was Sengun's age.
A franchise player OUTSIDE of Shaq, needs to hit his FT in crunchtime. Hakeem was money in Crunchtime, as was Tim Duncan. If you going to play at the end of games, hot 75% of your FT.
He's likely already surpassed the Scola comp. I say "likely" because he needs to keep this up for more than just 10 games, too small of a sample size to be certain at this stage. However, if Alpi finishes the season with these averages, Scola never had a season as good in his entire NBA career.
Sengun is clearly an offensive superstar because he is super efficient scoring the ball. Add next level passing and a decent nose for offensive rebounds and you have everything you need. And you have to imagine he continues to improve over the next few years. he needs to stop, hesitating on three-pointers and get a little bit more consistent with his free-throw shooting. I am super fine at this point in building the team around Sengun and seeing what happens. I expect a second and maybe even third star will emerge from our young players. And I generally think the floors on all of the young players are role players that fit excellently in a Senhub offense.
Comparing Sengun to Scola is just flat out disrespectful at this point. We need to be talking Sabonis or higher
Shaq is an ultimate franchise player. FT is important but not necessarily critical. IRCC, Duncan missed four FTs in a row in a playoff game in crunch time. Sengun’s shots are solid enough that he should be at least around 65-70%. ( Duncan avg 69.6% throughout his NBA career)
I would have given anything to see Scola take off on fast breaks, with handles, to throw down filthy poster dunks. The ridiculousness of that sentence should tell you all you need to know about Alperen vs Scola. I also would have loved for Scola to be one of the greatest passing bigs that has ever lived. Or, I’d have loved to have seen Scola as the best iso/post PPP producer in the NBA at 21 years old. He wasn’t even that at 27. If he was those things, we might have some damn rings to show for it!
You gave us Scola, a 27 year old oldie but goldie, that lacked Sengun's athleticism and passing. Don't be dumb.
I would if Clutch would not ban me. I am so HAPPY to be back on Clutchfans. Over the years I have been banned on several accounts. A while I actually thought he banned Swedish member requests altogether from Sweden since it was impossible to come back to Clutchfans with a swedish IP.
