His rookie season was as follows. 60 games and 22 games injured due to hamstring issues. He had 30 games where he absolutely did not look like an NBA player. He had 20 games where he had 30 point games and 1 40 point game. Basically what he is now is an above average scorer whose D is not a clear Minus.
Why you guys keep calling ppl haters as if they do not want their teams to perform better? It's extremely natural not liking a certain player on your team. Ppl don't wake up everyday to hate on x, y, z they make themselves as unlikable as possible so i don't like them. He's a streaky shooter and i don't like that i hate inconsistency in a shooter. He can't make his layups when it gets slightly physical. Again something i do not enjoy witnessing. His hands are too small so he loses grip of it and again it's not ideal. He takes tough shots and modylu misses them, attacks the rim while paint is more crowded than Mumbai which makes me question his decision making. You guys are like ****ing NPCs always parroting the same **** why are you hating him you are a hater, he is still young, give him time, new coach bla bla you live in a dreamland while i acknowledge that he has slightly improved i'm telling you that i'm still annoyed by 5 different flaws of him because they are glaring flaws, flaws that will not make him a cornerstone, faws that make me not enjoy watching him. Don't be so dismissive of ppl's opinions on a player they might just have valid reasons.
And what is the valid reason beside just saying he sucks? It's quite obvious that folks hate him for different reasons that's not even basketball reasons. Some hate him bc he's not manly, painted his finger nails black. Isn't Mobley, isn't kpj etc. I'm dismissive of the haters bc they only come out btching when we lose and most of the time they are just box score watching. U on the other just have a hard onfor sengun so your view on other players is quite bias when u can type sht like this "Has 6 turnovers but got shafted by the refs in multiple occassions so i can't really **** on him but still has to do better." And then say green sucks, fk him. As if Green didn't get hosed by the same refs. Parroting npc, as if the haters doesnt sprouts the same sht 24/7. We barely lost while getting hosed by the refs and brooks and Ole Jeff Green offense went missing. It was a winnable game. But ah yes just focus your hate on green and blame it all on him. Can't take green haters seriously.
You are not wrong, people should have calmed down on him after 3 years......I do not have much expectations for him so that has done wonders for me. He is a good player and has his warts....but it does not irk me as much as in the past - I have learned to live with his contributions. He is going to improve and that is good so. Jeff Green (Uncle) is only going to show up in 1 game out of 10.....I am not surprised at that.
The reason why some are obsessed with his nails is that he's more of a hippie guy than a shark. They want a shark a leader on the court that will be aggressive from the get go. They don't see him as a leader and can't express themselves properly so you think they are obsessed with his nails. It's not the nails not the homophobia or anything it's his demeanor on the court. He's the 2nd pick man but he doesn't play like that. When you watch at Ant, Ja, Trae, Doncic, Shai, Tatum all those high picks you can tell that it's their team when they are on the court. They are the boss. Teammates ackowledged that they are the boss, fans acknowledged it, coaches and everyone else. Jalen couldn't achive that. So what i'm saying is that i's not really the nail polish it's his personality. We lost because of refs i said it in the game thread but Jalen made couple terrible mistakes that probably costed us the game. Yeah with competent refs this was a W regardless of Jalen's **** ups but it's how it is. It's crystal clear to me that he needs to add 20 more pounds and get stronger he can't be on the wheel being so weak physically.
I used to think it was Jalen Green just due to his shot creation and athletic ability. Obviously we all wanted that hyper effective 2 guard who could take over games. I just don't think Jalen is a mature enough guy to be alpha on a championship level team. That may come down the road as Ime gets his finger prints on him and he grows up. Sengun is a different animal this year. He just always seems to make the right play. He is selfless and aggressive. The game is slow for him and he is hungry to be great. I thought Doc Rivers on the Bill Simmons podcast made a great point about the young american players and there lack of practice/effort. Sengun is the guy you want your culture to follow. Props to those who have been on it for a while. I see it now.
The maturity concerns on Green are unfair.he is just okay for his age, experience, maybe even more mature than average. Sengun is just an anomaly with his experience, iq, understanding of the game and maturity. You can’t expect it from green who never played serious basketball in his life.
What the heck, I saw a god damn meme where someone called Alperen Sengun the "Ali G Boratgun" and I can't stop thinking about Borat when I see Sengun now. I love him though.
There's NO one I would give a max contract to on this team! Like I've always said, Jalen and Sengun are good players but they are flawed. Jalen has not shown to have that extra gear to elevate his game when needed and Sengun struggles against the bigger centers. He does well against players his size but the bigger centers give him trouble and Calvin and Gerald Green all but said it last night during the Postgame Show. He played well against Thies but struggled against Zubac down the stretch. He got his shot block on one end and gave up a slam on the other end....that's not a FRANCHISE PLAYER
Haha, so you are judging Sengun based on two plays when he in fact outplayed both Theis and Zubac easily. He has basically dominated every single opposing big minus Jokic, and hell, even against Jokic he performed á 23 points (50% shooting), 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal. And he just dominated Sabonis 2 games in a row.
He left out where Alpi out hustles and jumps over Leonard and Zubac for an offensive rebound and throws it off the backboard that led to a crucial basket.
I never miss a Rocket's game and with that said, I have seen every one of Sengun's games. I am not basing my assessment off of two plays. Sengun has struggled in the past with bigger centers and plays at the end of games. It is what it is....he has flaws too. Green had 20pts, 4 rbs and 3 assist but I thought he played horrible. Its not about the numbers. Based upon their play right now, if the Rockets gave either one a max deal, I think it would be a mistake.
Well it is about the numbers, just not the raw numbers out of context. Scoring 20 points on 16 FGA's and 10 FTA's is pretty pathetic...scoring 19 points on 9 FGA's and 0 FTA's with 10 assists is really good. The numbers almost always will tell you the tale if you know how to look at them, but you can't just go on raw scoring totals, that tells you almost nothing.
For someone that watch all of Sengun's games you sure thing lack a simple understanding of basketball my friend. Sengun is 21 years old, he's basically leading an offense as a center and he has made major leaps defensively this season. He is basically the easiest choice to give a max deal to and is out performing his whole draft class currently. When you write "in the past" you are refering to a 20 year old kid that happened to play under the worst coaching stab in Rockets history and for an incredibly bad Rockets team. This season he is playing more than good defense and he is excellent offensively. I got some doubts regarding Jalen but Sengun is the full package.
