erdega79: Thanks so much for the pictures. Could you please share where you found such large photos? I see they are from sportsline.com but when I check that site I can only find small pics. Thanks a million!

Actually, the correct rumor would be Yao Ming to Dallas Mavericks.

It's easier to move the man than the mountain. Yao's not going anywhere anytime soon. So how about we trade Ewing for Del? :D

i dont know why people thought del was a bad coach after the la debacle i always thought he was a good coach that gotten a bum rap, that being said i dont think dallas is gonna be luring yao away anytime soon, and for that matter any other team

what annoyed me was that its one thing to hear some lunatic fans on some laker board (u know what one) to say how yao was gonna sign with the lakers once he is a FA, i can take that but to see it in the la times and on the la news how the lakers are keeping money to get yao is plain stupid. they were saying how rudy was yao's coach so thats a big plus and i am thinking well by the time yao's contract is up he will have been coached by jvg for 3 full seasons compared to the 3/4 of a season with so that arguement is sort moot and whatever just annoying i am very optimistic that yao will re-sign with the rockets at the earliest possible moment but its really annoying to hear how these other teams are gonna get him and its barely the end of his second season. u dont hear talks of teams clearing room for lebron and melo already or for that matter stoudemire just annoying and frustrating when all logic is thrown away

Yao leads party after huge upset of Serbia-Montenegro
    By JONATHAN FEIGEN
    Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle

ATHENS, GREECE - Yao Ming raised both fists in the air, threw his head back and let out a shout that said more than he ever did with a few frustrated comments a week before. He grabbed his teammates in a giddy group hug and danced at midcourt.

Yao had never looked quite like that on the court. He pumped his fist again, having never quite seemed so enthralled, so euphoric.

Then again, he had never taken part in a win so stunning, so monumental as China's 67-66 upset of Serbia-Montenegro on Monday, a victory immediately considered among the greatest upsets in Olympic basketball history.

With the win, China moved to the quarterfinals on Thursday against unbeaten Lithuania. But more shocking than that, it eliminated two-time reigning world champion Serbia-Montenegro before the start of the medal round.

"Today is indeed a day of great joy for us," Yao said. "Way back in 1996, when the Chinese team first qualified for the quarterfinals (in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics), I was very impressed. I thought that the generation before us had really made a great contribution. It was a great deed, and today we did the same.

"The games against New Zealand and today against Serbia-Montenegro have made us realize some things deep within us. What we have achieved today will become a treasure for future generations of basketball players to come in China."

Yao played all 40 minutes, scoring 27 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. But he did not lift China to the win until he made two free throws to tie the game at 63 with 1:44 left, made two more with 28 seconds remaining, then charged out to the 3-point line to help force Dejan Bodiroga's missed trey with 3.2 seconds remaining.

Du Feng was fouled and made both shots with three seconds left, making Serbia-Montenegro's last-second 3-pointer meaningless.

For China coach Del Harris, the victory inspired feelings that he said surpassed anything he had previously experienced in 45 years of coaching.

Yao knew just how he felt.

"Our coach said to us the very first day we should not give up easily, we should never give up. We watched video(tape), we talked a lot, and we all understood that this would be our last chance. I think the words that should be remembered today are to never give up."

Then Yao smiled, thought of his vow not to shave for six months if China failed to reach the quarterfinals, and said, "Do you think I'll look better if I shave?"

He might, but there was little chance Yao would feel better than he did Monday in Athens.

I would not be supprised by Yao's emotion, motivation, whatsoever. It was a battle for beard. Rumor has it that his gf, Ye, does not like beard. :D

It's always fun to read what the Warriors fans say about this on their board. I really like the reasons given out by this guy that Yao will bolt to Golden State:
"Selling points would be Bill Duffey (super agent who lives in Walnut Creek), the San Francisco fan base, direct flights to China and better weather (Houston in the Summer ugh!)."

"Selling points would be Bill Duffey (super agent who lives in Walnut Creek)" -- Like where the agent lives does matter

"the San Francisco fan base" -- Like Yao still needs more Asian fans.

"direct flights to China" -- LIke Yao would fly home after every single game then fly back for the next game.

"better weather (Houston in the Summer ugh!)". -- Well, he may have a point here. I don't deny that the weather of the Bay Area rocks. :D

    Dream on.

yeah well the la fans here seem it the lakers right to have yao because he will be the next great big man (if he hasnt shown it already) cuz they were able to steal away chamberlain, kareem and shaq. i cant stand la fans for that for them the rockets are just renting yao for now until his contract is up

the funny thing about them is that they diss yao whenever possible saying he is soft and all and that he will never dominate like shaq, but when they were saying the shaq for yao trades (yeah  ) that how the titles will be rolling in with kobe and yao. so like he is the greatest big man in the league today if he is on the lakers but jack $h** elsewhere, obviously i am aware of the homerism factor and all but there is a line between bias and good old fashion stupidity and we all know where the laker fans are standing there.

yeah the bay area weather is really nice i must do say, i wonder if la will start claiming that soon themselves

LOL. They think if somehow they can team up Yao with Kobe and three scrubs, it is gonna be over. The rest of the league will just roll over and die. :D
