Barnes was deservedly ROY, but then hit a major sophomore slump. Looks like he's righted the ship... Here are my tiers for that '21 Draft, for now. Everything may and will change with time... 1. Unquestionable Top Dog: nobody 2. Starting to look like a maybe Top Dog: Sengun, Barnes 3. Hyped as a Top Dog, but likely to end up as a decent 2nd, 3r, Role Option: Mobley, Green, Wagner 4. High Impact Role Players: Trey Murphy, Herbert Jones, Q. Grimes 5. Sleepers/Late Bloomers, may or may not become stars: Cam Thomas, Jalen Johnson 6. Unique Headscratcher: Giddey (a category by himself, very intriguing but may be a mirage) 7.Potential busts: Cade, Suggs, Kuminga, Moody, D.Mitchell, Zaire Williams 8. Bona fide busts: Primo, Bouknight, Kai Jones, Tre Mann 9. Meh: the rest
How is Kuminga a bust ......dude showed flashes already and he was not an uber high pick with high expectations going with him Moody has been solid..... Suggs has been a great defender.... he might not been the advertised Offense player. Me thinks you just do not watch games but just hunt for box score numbers.
Quite contrary. I just watched OKC vs GSW and both Moody and Kuminga didnt do squat. In year three, lottery picks should have an impact on the game. Suggs has been active on defense since his rookie year, yes. But that's not enough for someone who was considered for the top pick in that year.
You cannot be a bust if you are the 7th pick and not highly anticipated......Suggs is the only one perhaps. This draft class is more about the hype I admit, I also thought they would be better. We were talking about historical players....now not so much. I would not call them busts but rather pedestrian NBA role players. I think players like Kuminga and Cade need a lot longer than anticipated. Jalen Green as well. We were just naive on that draft class.
Barnes. Mobley, Sengun are clearly ahead of Green. Franz is mostly ahead despite his cold start. Cade is likely ahead if you reduce his role into a 3rd option. He has no superstar potential and Detroit is forcing him into a first option. If he were to play Jalen's role, he would be a more efficient player with FVV and Sengun initiating offense. Other players in the class have no star potential aside from Jalen Johnson and Cam Thomas. Jalen Green is at best 5, probably 6 right behind Cade right now.
yes, that's the thing with Cade: will he and the team be OK to transition him to a complimentary role, the way the Rockets are doing now with Green? Jalen has been admirable, and I think Cade will be, too, he's an intelligent man.
It is way too early to figure that out, also with Green. The inaugural third year.....well technically it is the 2nd year for Cade because he missed like 90% of last season. Some players need 4 or 5 years now. Maxey needed that third year to be recognized and his 4th year to break out. Cade lacks the explosion and Luka Doncic' elite skills IMHO but he can still be a Number 2.
Read it again man i'm saying if being a lob threat, a rim protector is the only quality a center has you won't any championship with him in this era.
Respectfully, this comment does not clear anything up — if anything I’m more confused about your position now.
https://www.nba.com/stats/players/touches?TeamID=1610612745&dir=D&sort=TOUCHES FVV isn't our permanent number one. Green and Sengun eventually will lead this but currently Green is just second behind FVV in touches per game and time of possession. Green also is second on the team in minutes played behind FVV. He also has the highest usage rating. He also has the second highest net rating on the team behind Brooks. He's as complimentary as Sengun but once FVV runs off enough both green and Sengun probably will be leading those stats.
I don't understand why you are confused tbh maybe it's the language barrier. Cavs will not win a chip with Mobley unless he improves on offense. He's very much a one dimensional big right now. He can't shoot from behind the arc and he pretty much needs to be spoonfed to score. He has some post moves but it's not enough. We are in the new era of bb where your big has to be good on defense AND offense. Firstly, he needs to be at least playable on defense. Secondly, he either has to be a good shooter (for a center) like Jokic, Embiid, Ayton, Davis etc. or be a playmaker like Sabonis, Sengun, Jokic meaning they have to be good at more than one aspect of bb. They should be able to contribute to the team in more than one way. Sengun can score, playmake and is a decent defender. So he's a versatile big. Mobley can defend and that's pretty much it. So we need to change approach to the bb and bigs. Rim protection, lob threat these qualities that are not enough anymore if you want to win everything with him in your lineup 82+ games.
It’s one thing to say being a lob threat alone isn’t enough. It’s another to say that it isn’t an important aspect of the game. If a player can only pass, they’re not going to make it in the nba. If they can only shoot, they’re not going to make it in the nba (rare 3 point specialists are the exception). I agree Sengun is an overall better player. I disagree that having a lob threat doesn’t make it twice as difficult to defend pick and rolls.
Jalen Green is our franchise player. He's feeling his way out right now, but he will break out at some point this season and go on a string of big numbers games
I mean Sengun definitely has shown more consistency at playing at a franchise player level and putting the national media on notice. I'm just correcting people who say Green changed to a role player. Still has the highest usage, second highest time of possession behind the starting pg, second highest minutes played and second highest net rating behind Brooks.
I think Green will be much more than a role player. Once the game slows down for him and his shot falls, he will be our leading scorer again. He could one day lead the league in scoring. He also seems to have good chemistry with Alpi. What's interesting is that all that "twin" talk seemed to always come from KPJ, not from Green. He has always been saying he loves Alpi. Glad we have him.
If Luka is healthy, he will be the leading scorer of the league in the next 5-7 years....... someone like Green can challenge it but it is pretty much set. The way the Mavs play if Doncic is not made to a Number 2 by a trade or something. Luka is only 24 right now....so 3 years older.
I think the game is slowed down for him, he just needs to score more now. He just blows by most perimeter defense, just can't consistently score
