The overbalance of frontcourt players in years past is going away like someobdy mentioned above. Very early but Tyrese Halliburton and Anthony Edwards seem like they're on a mission to join this year.
Alpi can make all-NBA this year, but for the good of the Rockets, the franchise would benefit the most if he misses it next year and doesn't qualify for the designated rookie maximum, reducing his salary to 25% of the 2025-2026 cap. Assuming a cap of around $160M, we're talking about an $8M difference per year; roughly around the size of the room exception. Due to the structure of the CBA, even making the first team this year, and missing it entirely next year before a string of consecutive first teams (we call this the '16 Harden), means he would only get the 25% max, while just sneaking onto the third team next year would qualify him for the full 30%. Both of them (along with LaMelo) have ~$44M in earnings riding on whether they are selected All-NBA third team or better. The very definition of a "contract year".
I don't like threads like this. Can we just enjoy the moment and see how this season plays out. It's been 9 games. We are doing well, but as we all know things can change.
Stats are too low. He might be deserving but as long as his stats say what they currently are, he won't get in.
That is why we have segments for everyone, man. We got to cater to everyone here, those that have stronger nerves as well.
I won't judge anyone's taste in what kind of things they find interesting or taboo, as long as it remains civil. I would have pushed Sengün to be on the third All NBA as well, it is just so friggin hard.
Yes sir, I've been on CF for a while but usually just scroll and read But this season has got me excited so I'll be more active. I've always enjoyed reading your thoughts
This is new to us not him. Remember he was already the MVP of the last professional league he played in three seasons ago.
enough with that mvp fairytale already pls. There are a few strong teams in Turkey. His team was not one of them in basketball. Euroleague teams such as Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce play with their b-teams in that local league. Eurocup teams also rest their starters. His team finished only 5th against those bench warmers and his team did not make it to the finals during playoffs. That year Anadolu Efes won the Euroleague and Turkish league. Other than the top few teams, it is garbage time. It is like he becoming summer league mvp where teams dont play their stars. Not mentioning that most teams could not bring good foreign players that year due to Covid. I love Sengun and his game, I just dont like these exaggerated images.
If we have a year like the Kings and make playoffs, he gets 3rd team like Sabonis, but I can’t see him getting 1st or 2nd anytime soon.
I would love it if he did. I think he might need bigger numbers to get the nod there this early. I definitely think All-star is realistic, especially if we keep winning some and he gets more exposure because the personality will bump him up in people's estimations.
I think if Rockets continue to win, he can make it. Otherwise, he can't and it doesn't matter in that case. The main reason Joker proved ESPNers that he is better than Embiid is because he won a championship. It is simple as that
Hopefully your done crapping on the 17 year old’s accolades. He did something right to get the honor. It really happened, even if it wasn’t to your standards. Here is the point he has received honors in the past. He was best in the situation he was placed in. MVP is part of who he is whether it to your liking or not.
Why are you lying as if you are the only one who has access to the internet? They did not play 'bench warmers' against Besiktas that's idiotic. Landale is a bench warmer, Garuba was a bench warmer. They played their best players but cut their minutes by like 7-8 minutes at most but they played them because Besiktas are one of the biggest teams in Turkey meaning you don't want to lose against them. By no means those teams were worse than Besiktas even when their 1 or 2 starters were getting less minutes. Besiktas played bunch of 21-22 year olds they were not good. "Other than top few teams it is a garbage time" is a weird thing to say because there were better teams than Efes and Fenerbahce that season. Karsiyaka and Tofas were also better than Besiktas and they finished above Besiktas. No league in Europe has 15 good teams and Turkish League is competitive enough. + Besiktas lost to Karsiyaka 72-84. Karsiyaka played M'Baye, Tony Taylor, Sek Henry. Sengun scored 20. 4 days later against Bologna in European Competition played the exact same guys. + Besiktas lost to Tofas 89-86. Tofas played Philip, Zubcic, Ugurlu, Simmons, Purcell, Christon. Sengun scored 25 pts. 3 days layer against Brindisi in European Competition every single one of them played. + Besiktas lost to Efes 80-84. Fener played Krunoslav Simon (who was shooting 39% from the perimeter that season), Larkin, Moerman, Dunston. Sengun scored 15. 2 weeks later Fener faced Olympiakos and Moerman, Micic, Simon, Larkin, Dunston all played. + Besiktas lost to Fenerbahce 74-83. Fener played Jan Vesely, Lorenzo Brown. Sengun scored 21 pts. 4 days later they faced Fenerbahce and those 2 played. + Besiktas lost to Efes 74-81. Micic (current OKC player) played 31 minutes scored 18pts. Adrien Moerman (ex Turkish League MVP) also played 32 mins scored 18 pts. Beaubois, Dusten also played. 4 days later they played with Olimpiakos and Micic, Beaubois, Simon, Moerman, Dunston played again. + Besiktas lost to Efes 77-96. Fener played Moerman, Micic, Simon, Sanli, Larkin, Beuobois. 9 days later some guys played against CSKA. Don't listen to this dude man holy ****. You guys are lucky that i'm here.
bro thanks for enlightening the US fanbase. congrats. dd or dave might and should give u a model/medal. i have been to most of the games you googled about. you forget covid and the low quality of that season. and nevermind the fact that many sports clubs are only run there to money laundering from gambling etc. btw I am a season ticket holder and a congress voter of Besiktas JK for the last 20 years and I am as objective as one can be. I am Efes fan in basketball. and I am actually SOF according to majority here. i am so lucky too.
You can change your profession, religion, nationality even your gender but you can't change the team you support. How come you are a "Congress member" of BJK but fan of Efes when BJK competes in top division? Just trophy hunter? No loyalty? What happens when Efes loses the power and another team becomes more dominant, such as TOFAS SAS, Pinar Karsiyaka, Beslen Makarna, TED Kolejliler? You will jump to their wagon as you did from BJK to Efes? Sad story.
