It’s clear that playing through Alpi is going to be the plan going forward. When he touches the ball on offense, good things tend to happen. Silas had us so f*cked up before, thank God for Ime and the vets for getting us back on track. Jalen and Jabari are going to shine eventually also but this is quickly becoming Alpi’s team.
I remember seeing this. Even I had him at 2 with a certain bias, this sounded a bit of a stretch. Dumb dumb prejudice.
Sengun is my favorite player but Franz Wagner is the best player of the draft, and then I got Cade. I got Sengun as the third best player along with Giddey. The 2021 draft is a damn good draft: Cade Cunningham Jalen Green Mobley Giddey Wagner Sengun Cam Thomas Herb Jones Jalen Suggs Trey Murphu
Absolutely Alperen Sengun is a vital piece to the puzzle. This thing is working not because of one or two parts, but because of the team aspect of the arrangement.
Franz Wagner literally does nothing better than Sengun. Sengun averages more points, rebounds, and assists with a way better TS%. And Cade is awful — have you seen his advanced metrics this season? Truly terrible. Both have been overrated since day one.
Our team defense is going to get even better when Amen returns. That's the only womp womp from the winning streak, Amen hasn't been able to enjoy it. So just keep winning.
This is also an indication of the huge difference between Ime and Silas. Even though they are still very rare, it is an indicator for those who do not accept how much of a difference Ime makes.
Of course. As are the inclusions of veteran players that play the game the right way. Sengun being able to adapt as a high post initiator vs needing back to the basket touches has also been a revelation for the team. Without Sengun this doesnt work. Without Udoka this doesnt work. Without FVV, Brooks, Uncle Jeff .. this doesnt work. Without buying in on team concepts vs individual glory among the young players ... THIS DOESNT WORK. It goes beyond one player that should be the focal point to this season and beyond.
Franz, Cade and Sengun don't play the same position. I still believe Franz got an edge over Sengun, Wagner is really a brilliant player. But he is also 1 year older than Sengun so by next year I think Sengun has passed Franz. I still got Cade over Sengun as well. Scotte Barnes is up there as well. Sengun is truly my favorite Rocket player in a very, very long time but people gotta relax. Sengun is only 21 years old and he is finally getting to be playing the role he always should have been playing but it's a very few amount of games. With that said I believe Sengun got the highest upside of them all.
Actually, I think almost the same as you. But for me, the most important person in this team is Ime. The number one reason why Sengun is reaching the potential he promises this season is first Ime and then FVV. I can only understand Sengun fans trying to put Sengun above the team, that's how it goes for the best player in every team. For me, Sengun is the best of the team right now, but he achieves this not only individually, but also with what the team promises him. Jokic does it that way too, or Embiid does it too. The best player in every team needs others and the coaching staff. This sport is played in a 5v5 format. Put Jokic on a team that currently includes Daishen Nix - KPJ - Jabari and KJ Martin. You can see that his numbers have dropped by almost half. The Rockets have been played with very bad players and a terrible coach for two years, and all the changes made this year have increased the value of all the players on the team, especially Sengun. I am not a Sengun onlyfan, I know that he is the best in this team, but I also know that he will be the first to blame when things go wrong. People must stay a little calmer. Those who hate him and those who worship him.
The most shocking thing on this graph is Ausar Thomson. Better rim protector than Gobert. On a team that has Duren, Stewart, Wiseman, and Bagley, who are all bigger than him. Did we get the wrong twin? Or is our twin going to be as good?
Unless you are like Hakeem and able to block the shot and steal the ball all in one, shot blocking can be overrated. The ball is swatted out of bounds a lot and then if a shot blocker commits too hard he'll change a shot but give up the offensive rebound or putback. I'd rather see solid team defense and rebounding.
