Tari played good D and his motor never stops. Did a few dumb things but overall he’s a fantastic piece off the bench.
I get some Harrison Barnes, Marvin Williams vibes with Smith Solid starting quality role players... Look great some nights, like bums some nights, and serviceable most nights. I don't know why he plays defense sitting on his heels so hard, he gets smoked on drives when he doesn't have to
My least favorite young guy on the team. Hope he can turn it around. He is still only a kid. Let's give him another year, hopefully he can break out in year 3
Smith's still too skinny and inexperienced to handle Williamson, so Jeff Green played down the stretch. No shame in that. That said, picking up Uncle Jeff was such an excellent offseason move. He especially has excellent frontcourt chemistry with Sengun.
He is younger than Amen. His true shooting % is up over last year. I love Jabari he will get better and better. I also think he is a good player to have and fits well with Eason, Amen, Green, Sengun, Cam he doesn't need the ball in his hands and can play off others. Neither does Eason but they are diffrent types of players in that regard.
Yeah - let's just wait for his 3rd year progression before prematurely binning him. He can do a lot of nice things. Summer League he feasted; preseason he looked amazing - good chance he has some really nice games this season.... Will the ability to consistently dominate ever be found? Who knows. Enjoy the ride!
Jabari has been a steady contributor for 5 games in a row before tonight so I'm not going to harp on him for one bad game. But... I do find it hilariously ironic that certain fans have been clamoring for "Jabari at the 5" to replace Sengun to close out games since last year. Meanwhile a real coach is closing out the game with Sengun with Jabari watching on the bench. Some people might want to keep their basketball takes to themselves for awhile.
I still believe in Jabari. There's a reason both Silas and Udoka made him a starter and give him big minutes. His play so far this yes is much improved over last year which is all you can ask for.
I like Jabari, however I would consider giving him up along with the 2024 Nets pick, Jeff Green and Victor Oladipo for Mikal Bridges. All comments are welcome.
Defo. I like Jabari but Mikal is much further along. Maybe Londale instead of Jeff. Another option would be Jeremy Grant. What would you say to that?
Jabari needs confidence. He needs solid starts to games to get it. Running plays for him most of the first quarter would help him and the team. His youth will not let that be consistently successful but is worth the play calling investment. When teams start to focus on Smith the others players (Fred, Sengun, & Green) will pick them apart he is key to operate the offense. Smith’s skills are very 3 levels and when it all comes together he will be a show to himself.
Jabari will be fine. He just needs to understand his role, and the pecking order. His role is to be Robert Horry. The pecking order among the young guys is Alpi, then Jalen, then Bari and Tari.
Regardless why he got benched, it was disappointing to see him respond the way he did. The only dude not cheering, but rather sitting on his hurt butt while the his teammates scrapped out that win said a lot. I know he's literally just a kid, but he's got a lot of growing up to do. Hopefully he'll take Ime's benching constructively and grow from it. Whatever the reason, I imagine his Pop's will give him an ear full LOL. Let's see how he responds on Sunday.
I'm not sure how much we can get better with Grant vs Bari. Jack's injury has reduced his trade value.
I’ve only seen highlights of the game. (I drove to Oklahoma and listened to the game on satellite radio) and he was up excited and cheering hard when Van Vleet hit the 3 going into a timeout. Good enough for me in that regard.
Nah, he was up for like all of those big plays, you can watch the NBA highlights of the closing moments here... You can see outside of one instance he's always clapping and sometimes the first one off the bench excited for the team. Only time he wasn't was the last FTs, maybe he was just tense, I know I was. You get more amped for big plays (Like Alpi's takeaway and put back or FVVs three) then a simple FT make which is more like "Hey, good for you, you made an open shot with no one in front of you..." and actually watching that you can see that his reaction to FTs is the same throughout....which is he has no reaction to them. Everything else though he seems pretty hype for the team?
That's the spirit. Wish you had the same spirit while bashing on Sengun every single game on RW last season.
There's room for multiple stars on a team, I don't think we should force Jabari to be in a smaller role when we know he has potential to be more and we know this because just like Green, just like Alpi, he has had massive games in the NBA. Championship dynasties usually have three stars as well. This is why I hate the 'bust' talk. Busts do not flash in the NBA. They don't turn around and have 30 point games in the NBA. Busts barely do anything at all. Busts suck consistently throughout a season and never show flashes. Jabari has done this multiple times by now. He'll be fine and just like Green and just like Alpi a lot of his haters will look silly. They just always come out the moment he has a bad game Jabari's main issue right now is that he's 20 years old. But we should not force him into a role player role when he can be more than that. Who knows if he'll reach his potential but the potential is there. The guy has a bag and his prototype of player is pretty damn rare. Last night was a growing moment. He'll be fine.
