I think he's significantly underrated. I think he's the best player on the Rockets right now and has a very high ceiling. I think he's going to be an All Star at a minimum. I'm probably in the minority on this though
“He's getting more chances this season. He starts, they give him more minutes to play so he can play like himself. When you get more minutes, you gain much more experience and can be yourself. I think Alperen is using his hands well. He knows how to show himself. He can drawing fouls. “I think people don't give him the credit he deserves.” -Domantas Sabonis (Eurohoops)
I was curious this morning, and I wanted to see where Sengun stacked up in terms of advanced stats and the rest of the league, and it's pretty obvious that he's made a leap in this small sample size of the season thus far. In terms of the overall league, Sengun is: - 13th in PER - 14th in WS/48 - 14th in BPM - 15th in VORP - 7th in AST% By most metrics that calculate a player's overall impact on the game, Sengun is a top 15 player across the entire NBA right now, which is crazy to think. But he's basically playing at an All-NBA caliber level or right below it, and no one else on the roster is remotely close to that at this point. FVV, Brooks, Green and Jabari are all contributing in their own ways, but Sengun is the star of the show. That could change over time, certainly, but I don't think that's likely to happen anytime soon.
I think the majority on this board now and the coaching staff acknowledge that, you are surely in the majority.
Not yet. I think he is currently the best player they have drafted, and could be the clear best on the team by the end of the year. He doesn't have the highest ceiling among the draftees, but is certainly the one most likely to reach a high ceiling.
Basically him and Brooks were the only guys showing up in Orlando, he has a nice head start, let's have a bigger sample size.
Harden and Iso ball days are over…. this is are a TEAM performances. Whoever has a mismatch any given match will play best
Yeah love the team ball and Lakers are lucky we were up by 35 or Sengun woulda had 50. They had wood and hachimura on him and didnt double him one time....
It was so funny seeing Alpi scoring on these dudes in the post. Like it was as if he was posting up on air if those defenders didn't exist.
I love everything about this kid, and always have. It's so cool seeing how much he has developed since he came to this team as a teenager. He is a fighter, and never ceases to give credit or show his respect for our new veterans pushing him and motivating him to be better. He really respects those guys, and wants to contribute even more than ever. The sky's the limit for Sengun, and with Fred, Dillon, and Jeff pushing him this year his development is going to get better and better.
If he keeps playing this way, he could be in the running for Most Improved Player by the end of the season.
Dillon Brooks is our best player currently. Defense has been next level. He won that game for them in the 4th last night.
For sure. I also think he has the highest semi-realistic ceiling outside of maybe Thompson and mayyyyyybe Whitmore. Jalen and Bari can both be very good NBA players but based on a decent bit of data it seems like they are very unlikely to be top 10-15 players in the league. It’s on the table for Sengun. It’s very unlikely for Thompson and Whitmore too but we need to see more I suppose.
These are the types of guys you bet on. Franchise cornerstone. Talented, unselfish, and wiling to sacrifice his body for his teammates/coaches/city. You want to build a culture, you build around this, period. “Not worth the trouble…” “Bruno Fernando…” “Mo Bamba…”
