There's no way anybody can claim Bari is taller or the same size as Alpi. In fact, look at Jalen and Amen, if Jalen's "6'4" then Amen's 6'5 at best. People can't have it both ways haha.

If Jabari truly is bouncier than Alperen Sengun, he must be massively uncoordinated, because dunks from Jabari that aren’t wide open are supremely rare. He also hasn’t been able to translate SL finishing over to the big leagues, which indicates that he has explosion issues. I’d be willing to bet top dollars that Alperen Sengun would dominate Jabari in a power clean contest. He is simply more explosive athletically, while Jabari would dominate in a lane agility test, and probably murk Alperen on a 5 mile run or something. :D

Jabari certainly has more gifts laterally and he has great feet, but his overall awareness and IQ are unquestionably lower than Alperen’s, too.

Also, for being so limited physically, according to some, Alperen is a far superior rebounder. A mixture of instincts, explosion and strength. We really need a 3/4 that bridges the gap between the two. I am curious to see Tari out there with them.

I am still holding out hope that Jabari and Alperen grow up together, get stronger and quicker and smarter together. It is early days and I still love their potential. I’d kill to see Jabari move without the ball some.

Generally I agree, but his lack of aggression vs. Wemby was concerning. Particularly after his social media posturing on draft night.

Pretty much, the best guys are the ones doing the hunting. But how can that be if Jabari is the one guarding them?

Angel shots! Things and people look different depending on the ANGEL of the camera. Sengun is not taller than Jabari

I've said that Sengun is the best young player we have on the team right now but I'm not going to pretend he can do things he cannot.

Jabari is just a better defender than Alp. He's far more versatile as he can guard more positions and he can switch onto most matchups which is vital to being a good defender in this league nowadays.

I think Jabari will be a better defender, I don’t think he is currently though.
I think Jabari is in his own head and trying to do too much, be too much or live up to his draft status.
His archetype is a perfect match to Alp, but I also think Jabari has to develop more than Alp to reach anywhere close to their respective archetypes

Hopefully with the additions off J.Green, Van Fleet and Dillon Parker the rest of the young core can follow suit .

It's a bit early to call it a season but the younger guys need to start learning as much as they can. I'm just glad Harden didn't end up here, he would have made this team worse than with KPJ.

The angel of the camera? Do you mean angle, or is this some weird Christian thing I don't get?

Jabari should be a way way better defender with his gifts. If he isn’t, we are in scary territory.

I do think Alperen has made some good strides here on the perimeter. We had very few issues against GSW when Alperen was out there. Quite a bit better than the “unplayable” tag he unfairly receives.

Overall I am happy with the ass kicking going on in the locker room. JG/JAB/Al are trending up…

No - Jabari is vastly better laterally and also going back. Sengun is stronger and better at denying position - but the lateral and step back speed is a genuine concern in 2023 and keeps him from being a good defender.

Dillon is clearly talking about @34to11 and @larsv8 when he is speaking of "mental lapses" and "always the same guys doing it".

Are you being facetious or do you really not know how "hunting" goes?

The primary objective is get a stronger defender (in this case Jabari) off your guy and create a mismatch with a worse defender (Sengun).
A team will run screen after screen until they get the match up they want.
That's exactly what we saw late in the Golden State game as the Warriors made their final push.

Funny thing is the Rockets used to hunt Steph the exact same way.

    Overrating one and underrating another.
Jabari moves better laterally, but he is neither fast, quick or explosive in those movements.

Moving back as in backpedaling? That’s no different than lateral agility. Same training goes into lateral and backpedal. I don’t see how anyone can see that on a basketball court, there is very little backpedaling done on defense.
Or flipping hips? Still lateral movement training.
Either way, yes Jabari is better but he is far being elite at it.

Jabari is able to get lower and wider in his stance, which is weird with his overall stiffness. His balance when low is better than Alp who is a lot more flexible and limber.
