According to some people on the ESPN Boards, they are saying a Portland Radio station (910 AM) or something like that.. Anyways, they are saying a Trailblazer reporter said a deal is done between Toronto and Houston sending Eric Montross and Brian Skinner to Houston for Hakeem. Said it will be offical later this week. I haven't heard it first hand, but it appears to be a lot of people saying they heard the same thing. The later in the week makes sense as Vince Carter has a Press Conference tomorrow and the Raptors probably don't want something taking away from it ------------------
Thanks for the info, I hadn't heard that yet and i really hope your jerkin our chains. Pleeaaassseeee tell me your just kidding. ------------------ Life quotes: -Statistics are like a bikini; what they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital.

BTW CTV Sportsnet here in Toronto said a deal is done, but no report on who or what is involved. They said it would be on hold until after the Vince stuff is finished ------------------
No way we take that garbage off the Raptors hands. I would rather renounce Hakeem than do that. Besides, Skinner can already be traded? He just got there for chrissakes. ------------------ Just ship Cato's ass outta town. Plain and simple.
I think because he was the only player involved, the trade restriction does not apply. I was under the impression it was a #1 pick and the space for Hakeem. Pretty much a first rounder for the trouble of setting up a sign and trade ------------------
Man it must suck to be Brian Skinner. Going from L.A. to Chicago. Chicago to Toronto. And now maybe Toronto to Houston? ------------------
Skinner can rebound and Mo cant. ------------------ "The girls danced, started fondling me, I got aroused, they performed oral sex," Ewing said. "I hung around a little bit and talked to them, then I left."
That is by far the worst trade I could possibly imagine. ------------------ Protrolls.com! The next person to post on my message board will win a prize! The ZRBucks!
This would be as bad as the draft day trade was good. I will cry myself to sleep if true. ------------------ Tennessee is a suburb of Houston. Go Oilers....
Have you guys seen Montross contract. If we trade for him that would be stupid. Just plain stupid. ------------------ Tennessee is a suburb of Houston. Go Oilers....
I'd rather pay Hakeem 16 million again rather than make that trade. I hope the Rockets do *not* make a stupid sign and trade deal that does not benefit us. -tariq ------------------
Regarding Skinner, under the CBA, it says the following: For two months after receiving the player in trade, if the player is being traded in combination with other players. However, the team is free to trade the player by himself (not packaged with other players) immediately. This two-month restriction applies only to teams over the salary cap. (Also see question number 62 for a special case where players can be traded together in less than two months.) ------------------
What the fu..??? You got to be kidding! This only gurantees the lotto next year. Just waive Dream, don't screw the season up because you still want him to make 8 mill with Toronto. ------------------
IMO, this would be a surprise. Now, Skinner, I could see. He played at Baylor where CD is an alum and big supporter of their athletes and the guy lives here. He also is scheduled to make about $1 million and is a free agent after this season. Montross will make about $2.7 million this season but is signed through 2005!!! That would really surprise me. If they brought in both, that would be less than the $4 mill they were going to pay Hakeem originally assuming Tornonto includes the trade exception. Still, that means putting a second bad big man with a huge contract on the roster. I just don't see that happening. ------------------ Who's your buddy? Who's your pal? I am, aren't I?
Lifted this from a buddy's post: Montross: $2,480,000 Skinner: + $1,483,461 .7Mil Trade Excep + $ 700,000 --------------- Sub Total $4,663,461 15% Trade Allowance $ 699,519 --------------- GRAND TOTAL $5,362,980 To summerize why it is $700,000 trade exception instead of the the $5m one, is because Skinner was part of the Oakley deal. Because of that, he cannot be dealt with that same exception to another team. However Toronto does have a $700,000 trade exception picked up in the Mark Jackson/Chris Childs deal and therefore can use that. So Montross+Skinner would equal what Dawson wanted to pay Hakeem, gain the space from Hakeem being dealt and have enough room to re-sign all free agents ------------------
When you actually compare Montross' deal to that of say Todd Mac or Geiger or other big white stiffs, his is pretty decent. He is a big guy who clogs up the lane and did a decent job against the Lakers with Toronto. Hey he can't be worse than Ostertag or Reeves and their fat contracts. ------------------
