The problem is that his specialty is lacking so far. I don’t want to be unfair as I give the young guys time to adjust, but just because he is a vet he should not be given a rotation spot just because. We don’t know what goes on in practice and that might be why Cam isn’t getting any playing time or even Williams. If he continues to struggle, I don’t mind throwing Williams out there to see if catch some luck with a long shot that at least showed out in the pre-season with great hustle plays. We are still re-building and diamonds in the rough are a good thing.
Bulock : Seems to be a lost cause! The Head Coach needs to shake up the Roster, especially the second five, Y
Whitmore shot 38% and 27% from 3 in the pre-season. He was never a great 3 point shooter from even the college 3 and he's been even worse in the NBA, so far. We all want Cam to be that steal, but he wasn't setting the world on fire with his shooting when the talent got better over the summer. I'd almost want to give Reggie a few games to prove he isn't that guy before giving Cam any major minutes. But if shooting is what you're looking for, right now, I'm not sure either of them do anything for me.
Ah you mistook me, I wasn't saying Cam would shoot well from 3. But I bet he'd score more from dunks and slashing than Bullock scores period.
You may be right, but even his drives were a bit wild at times. In the more recent games in the pre-season, I could've sworn he had the ball either stripped or blocked a few times. Just like Amen and Jalen, he'll learn his vertical won't be enough to get him the easy bucket. If he could hit his 3's I think he'd have more open territory for his drives. Right now, if he doesn't, they're just going to lay off of him and challenge him to shoot over 30% from 3. Interestingly, it doesn't look like he's in Ime's rotation so far ... at all. I'm sure a lot of that is the "once I get the ball, it's mine" mentality. I don't know if he's had to actually think or pass much in high school or college, and I'm sure Ime expects the ability to do that. I want Cam to do really well because his scoring is fun to watch, but just like all these other dudes, I'm going to have to wait 3 or 4 years before I "know" what they can do. I'm not seven sure that'll be enough time. I hate "one-and-done".
I think Bulluck is being used as a stretch big - can't see how that would make him compete with Cam....and I dont think Williams is necessarily better than Bullock. I mean Bullock has played 9 minutes a game on average and most of that is because he was in the rotation when Jock Landale was out.
I've heard that "notoriously slow starter" line a few times so I checked his splits and indeed... basically can't shoot for 2 months and in December turns into a sharpshooter. As long as we're getting good defense until then it's fine I guess but I'll definitely be looking forward to the contributions. I think Gatlin invoked Gary Mathews as a comp and it kind of ruined any hope I had lol...
