No one gonna say anything about PJ!? That’s the detail that raised an eyebrow over here. Harden got PJ to come with him. That’s kinda scary. Like they at least genuinely believe they’re gonna go capture something this year. PJ with a 0 stat line is still important in the playoffs. He’s got the hardware to prove it.
PJ is pretty overrated. Offensively he is Maldonado, not as good defensively like before & moves slow.
Apparently people here who think Morey is the one who got fleeced. Understandably I guess there's still quite a few fans here that just remember the glory days, and aren't realistic to the market. I don't think Philly preferred to take a buyout. I was just reacting to the news coming out of LA (could have, and probably was bluffing) that the Clippers were happy with their team, and were souring on the complexities of adding Harden. It was always just one team that had a perceived need for another star, and if that goes away then yeah... I do think the next logical step would have been Harden taking a cut so he could sign into another teams cap room for a year. I think Morey saw the market and said I'd rather just take a chance that Harden eventually plays, and if he doesn't I'd rather just not have him around than trade him for junk contracts and maybe a pick swap. My guess is Morey is surprised that the Clippers actually did want Harden bad enough to give up that first, and make the trade for another first. I think he's feeling pretty good this morning, and now he's got some pieces to work with and a team that is already pretty good.
I thought boy genius was being held back by Leslie and Tilman. Let him go to a real franchise with a real owner! My guess is he'll be happy until the playoffs because PG, and Kawhi will likely be out a ton during the regular season, ride Harden in the regular season to 48 wins with a few appearances here and there, and then in the playoffs I'm guessing they'll want to push Harden off to the side for Kawhi/PG to take over. So my guess is he won't be unhappy during the regular season, but in the playoffs I suspect he'll be very pouty, and will sign elsewhere in the offseason. Probably the Lakers.
Cool but correction, Kawhi was raised in the far out LA suburb Moreno Valley where he went to high school, and Westbrook is from the Hawthorne/Lawndale area. Harden is also from Artesia. I guess they're just saying "well they were born in a hospital in LA" lol This geriatric squad better rest up during the season so they aren't all injured during the playoffs. Yall think Harden will do a Podcast P episode?
Other than dumping Horford and a 1st for nothing when he was still effective, most of Morey's moves have been pretty net neutral, but on the whole underwhelming. In the Clippers deal, they got back roughly equivalent firsts from what they traded for Harden (plus assets!), and dumped the albatross Simmons contract in the process.
Who? Name names - it's what the Internet is for now more than ever - the settling of petty anonymous grievances.
Don't forget Russ... No but seriously, Durant is most definitely a closer. He almost single-handedly took down the champion Bucks sans Harden/Kyrie. If it wasn't for his big toe being on the 3-point line the Bucks would never have gotten to the championship game entirely. He was pretty clutch in GSW and had moments of clutch in OKC, those teams just couldn't close out an all-time team.
The hardest trades are those where you know the player wants to go there and pout like a kid....... There is a reason Dame landed in Milwaukee and not Miami, the Bucks offered more.
Clips have Russell Westbrook, Norm Powell, Bones Hyland, Terrance Mann, and now James Harden. That's a pretty crowded back-court.
