    Boy, it has been a while since I started a thread in the Game Action forum, so here it goes...

    Alright, I have a simple question. Assume that the Rockets' roster looks like this next season:

    Francis-Norris
    Mobley-Anderson
    Griffin-Williams-Langhi-Morris
    Taylor-Thomas
    Olajuwon-Cato

    Assuming that all the rosters stay the same, I want to know what team will match up the best with the Rockets. What team is most similar in design, and what team is most likely to produce a 118-115 thriller with the Rockets.

    I think that Portland, Dallas, Orlando, and Phoenix all have the firepower to produce a game like that. Teams like Sacramento and the Lakers also have the firepower, but unfortunately, they play defense, so they aren't really candidates.

    So, what will be the best match-up next year?

    As a caveat, Philly if they put Speedy Claxton in at the 1.

    Uhh... you have heard of Philly's severe problem finding points from players not named Iverson, haven't you [IMG]?

    The Rockets and Mavs will light it up.

    I personally want to see Franchise and Baron Davis go at each other, so I'll say Charlotte

    I'll probably get torched for this...but I think the Nuggets will STILL give us scares. For the past couple of years, each of the Rox vs. Nugs games have been an all out brawl. I still remember when Lafrentz made a three pointer with 5 seconds left, when his foot was clearly out of bounds. Or Robert Pack's jumper. These were all this year, but like I said, the Nuggets always give the Rockets problems.

    I would say Milwaukee, but we torched them last year, and I don't see any reason why that might not repeat itself.

    I would say the most likely candidate is Golden St. They're players aren't exactly shy when it comes to putting up a shot, and if they get on, it could turn into one of the higher scoring games of the season.

    The Rockets will still win of course.

    I'm gonna say Indiana. Don't ask me why. [IMG]

    I'm hoping for multiple double and triple overtime games - if the Rockets win, of course.

    Personally, I think Milwaukee is the team that most resembles the current Rockets. Think about it...

    Francis/Mobley --> R.Allen/S.Cassell
    Taylor/Griffin --> G.Robinson/T.Thomas
    Hakeem/Cato/Collier --> E.Johnson/J.Przybilla/S.Williams

    As far as if it will be a good, high scoring game... who knows.

    I'll look forward to the Portland matchups. They've blown us out a few times over the past two seasons, but there have been a whole lot of really close games we squeaked by in. I would like to see the new matchup of Zach Randolph and Eddie Griffin as well. Booing Pippen is always fun too [IMG]

    I think Phoenix games should be interesting too, especially if Hardaway is healthy. Last season I remember two of the games being very close. In one of them Olajuwon stole the ball from Marion I think, and passed it ahead to Francis for a dunk to seal the game with less than 10 seconds left. Then there was another game in which Marion hit some crazy spinning scoop shot to lead Phoenix to a close victory. Francis vs Marbury, Mobley vs Hardaway, Griffin vs Marion should all be very good matchups.

    Dallas - 48 points Nowitzki (14 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 threes, 2 steals, 3 blocks), 26 Finley, 22 Nash (6 threes). Juwan Howard: 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 flagrant foul on Cuttino. Bradley: 7 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks

    Rockets - 33 points Francis (11 rebounds, 12 assists), 31 points Mobley (4 rebounds, 0 assists), 18 points Mo Taylor (2 rebounds, 2 assists), 15 points Hakeem (10 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 blocks), 12 points Griffin (to go with 16 rebounds and 7 blocks, but 5-14 shooting).

    Total score: Rockets 128 - Mavs 124

    I think we can have good games against the kings with the run and gun style.

    ZRB,

    I enjoy this thread. Thanks for thinking of something new. My answer:

    1. Dallas
    2. Milwaukee
    3. Orlando
    4. Sac
    5. Clippers (I only add them to see you explode 5 times during a 118-115 thriller against them...lol)

    I'm going to have to say the Clippers. They will certainly be able to score next year w/ Brand/Odom/Miles and I don't expect them to play much D...

    Rockets 131 - 129 Clippers
