I was laughing at the Bills for taking him as high as they did when the draft went down. I was starting to think maybe he had a legit shot at making a comeback...now I'm laughing at the Bills for a different reason. They drafted a selfish, self-centered ego maniac with an overdeveloped opinion of his own abilities. I kind of hope he gets traded to Miami so he can see what would happen if he were to start on a regular basis so soon in the NFL. His ass would get pancaked week after week.
hotballa, You are entitled to feel that way. I just took umbrage at your hoping that McGahee would suffer a serious injury. I mean there are other ways that he could fail besides getting hurt such as prone to fumbling, not being a team player, simply getting beat out by the better guy (whether that is Henry or someone else), ending up in the Bills' coaching staff's doghouse (whether that is saying stuff like this or something else), etc. I can understand feeling that he is a punk, even though no one here really knows what he is like. I just googled Willis McGahee and "charity work" because I vaguely remember when he was at U of M about how he took care of his grandmother. This link was like the 3rd thing I found: Go to the bottom where they list the teams and look for the Bills, McGahee is one of several Bill players who "will team with 100 children from the Boys & Girls Club of Buffalo for an Iron Chef competition. The players and children will be given ingredients, then challenged to prepare a creative and tasteful dish. Following the competition, they will eat dinner together." But it is refreshing to me to see that we have people here that want Willis to be in a wheelchair when he does his next function like this one. Something tells me that I am really wasting my time with this post, but I am going to bookmark this thread. Then when McGahee becomes a starter and even a Pro Bowl player, I can pull this thing out and laugh.
Google pretty much any athlete and charity work, and Google will return some results. Don't see why McGahee would be any different.
Let's not get so high and mighty, all athletes are encouraged by their union, their coaches, their agents, their GMs, etc. to do charity work as positive PR. Having a nice image works wonders for endorsement dollars. I know McGahee's story, ESPN Mag did a quite extensive feature on him a year or two ago. I know he is a nice guy off the field or whatnot, but on the field, his trade demand is just another example in a list of athletes who only think of themselves and not the extenuating circumstances. Such as why a football team would turn their offense over to a guy with a surgically repaired leg when you already have one of the leading rushers in the league? Then from the humanistic side of it, how about showing a litle big of gratefullness to the team that gave you a nice signing bonus even though they knew that you wouldn't give them anything for that first year of guaranteed money. Just because a guy does charity work doesn't mean he is a godo teammate. T.O. does charity work too, and I douby many of his ex-teammates have good things to say about him. So he does charity work, yippee skippy. He's still a bad teammae. As for him being a Pro-Bowler, I never said that he didnt have the talent to do it. So go ahead and pull it out and laugh if he makes the pro-bowl, but if he breaks his leg on his first carry and lasts 3 seasons in the NFL, I'll be sure to pullout the thread and laugh also.
Considering how classy you have been, I wouldn't expect any less. You make me sick. That is all I have to say as anything else would be resorting to your level of "class" (actually lack of). I am out of this thread as further posts on my part will have nothing good to come out of it.
Hmmm....Travis Henry got hurt earlier tonight, though I don't know how serious it is yet. Maybe this whole thread will be a moot point.
I really don't see how McGahee becoming a Pro Bowl player will do anything to prove your points in this thread, Manny. Being a pro bowler somehow makes him a good guy?
It's too bad we werent able to have a better discussion, but it was kinda hard to hear you from your pedestal
Eric Bulluck just made the decision LOL. But in response, Bulluck did say that Travis Henry should start because Eric wasn't afraid of Magahee at all and said he hit the hole weakly. While Travis hit it hard.
I like people with strong morals, they're often the biggest hypocrites around. For instance, when they say they wont talk in a certain thread anymore, and then make a post the next day. Classic stuff, yup strong morals indeed
I have been waiting for an opportunity to use the old "rolling eyes" smilie again. Thanks hotballa for giving me that opportunity!
